As I said; a short note:
Quote:Hey Taylor,
I've just got Philosophy in, would you be interested in trading that for Feudalism?

t86 - (going to be the last turn for a while)
Gaziantep completes Barracks, starts Catapult - this wll be my Eastern Military pump.
Samsun finishes Cat, starts Forge (to be Whipped).
Ruff wins AP election (would have without my votes since he's Conf and I'm still Hindu)
A Barb Archer has shown up in the South East, and I notice that Ruff forgot to re-gift Heroic HA back to me ... I'll send him a pingabout it in-game so he doesn't forget.
Manouvering units into position at Sarmatian - now have HA & Chariot ready to hit the two-Warrior garrison next turn.
Daisy starts a Mine at Gaziantep, and Tyres moves to do the same.
Tim farms at Bursa, and will be joined by Twist next turn after she finishes the Mine for Konya.
Bilbo starts on a Grass Cottage for Ankara.
Brian moves to finish the Road connection between Diyarbakir and Samsun, while Amber starts a Mine at the latter city.
Mike has finshed a Cottage at Istanbul, and the city starts working it straight away - MoM still due in 3t (including Marcia's chop due next turn).
I probably need to look at getting a couple more Workers out soon; lots of Jungle work to do in SW & SE, and will soon have Sarmatian to connect & deal with in NE.
Whip the Forge into Ankara for 2Pop - overflow will go into much-needed Library, then Market.
Sooooo is getting close to eing able to see my research, so I'm going to have to be careful with my EP spending in the near future.

OK, before the next turn, a couple of messages received:
Ruff_Hi Wrote:I've started gunpowder. It will take me 14 turns to research nationalism which is too long. Sooooo settled his GS but will finish Edu in 4 turns.
I regifted the HA - sorry about that.
Ruff athlete4life10 Wrote:Hey Andy,
I realized I forgot to reply to this. Sorry! I didn't mean to leave you hanging. At this point I'm truly not interested in any religious techs. I did just pick up monotheism from MH but he just offered it without any warning, I didn't ask for it at all. I'm assuming you're on to liberalism now? I have to have a look at the civics that offers but it's possible I might want that. By the sounds of things you'll beat Soooo to it. Any idea what tech you might choose from it?
Just wanted to give you a heads up as well. Longbows are starting to roll out of my warehouses so you'll see atleast one maybe 2 or 3 come say hello in Zapotec. Don't want you to be alarmed or anything (they are just longbows after all...).
Again sorry for the delay in the response as I thought I had already contacted you but just noticed now I had not. Take 'er easy,
Taylor Nothing Earth-shattering there.

t87 - OK, let's see if I can remember whats happening.
Ankara completes Forge, Library due in 2t.
Konya finishes Workboat, Worker in 1t.
Fiddle some tiles, set some Worker actions.
WB sets out to explore the centre - on the way to Sarmatian. Speaking of; unpromoted HA defeats first Warrior ... eeep, only 0.1 left! Promote Combat1 and would receive ~60% odds of victory next turn. One Warrior left; C1 Chariot would get 90% odds ... decide to wait until next turn to attack, so have the HA as back-up if needed.
Heroic HA kills Barb Archer in SE.

t88 - OK, this is going to have to be another short update as I have to get back to the decorating....
Turn starts with a World Map exchange request from Ruff ... nothing much new revealed.
Edirne completes Forge, starts Conf Missionary.
Konya finishes Worker(Sophie), starts Forge.
Chariot attacks Sarmatian with 90%+ odds ... loses. ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Defending Warrior now on 0.6/2, and HA has >99.9% ... wins.
New city brings 18g and +6gpt in expenses.
Workboat is taking a tour around the island, with nothing interesting to report. Will be at Crabs before borders expand.

E-mails with Ruff:
Quote:Dreylin,
I thought of a way for you to pay me for the Great Spy. You know the land South of DV that I ceded to you during our DV negotiation - how about you cede that back to me as payment?
Cheers,
Ruff
Quote:Hey Ruff,
Still getting up to speed, an quite busy with moving & decorating ... anyway, that seems a reasonable exchange, since it was going to be quite a while before I managed to settle that region. Not sure whether there's a good spot down there - my city was going to overlap quite a bit with Edirne - so let me know what you see.
At EOT 88, I am 1t+ from Liberalism but have run out of gold. How is sooooo's progress right now? If he's a ways away, I might detour to get Machinery before completing Lib.
FYI, incase you can't see them, there is a mini-stack of 2xMaces, Cat & Phalanx stationed 2 tiles NE of Corinth.

t89 - Mausoleum completes!
Istanbul starts Forge.
Ankara completes Library, starts Worker(2t).
Shuffle Workers, and find a Great Spy waiting on my Eastern borders. Start the walk West, while I consider options.
WB discovers Fish NE of the small island - definitely worth an Island getaway at some point.
Set research back down to 0% to accumulate gold for the rest of Liberalism.

Finally get around to replying to athlete:
Quote:Taylor,
No worries about the delay, I didn't even notice since I was away, and now it's my turn to apologise for taking a while to get back to you! 8-)
No probs with the L-bows, I've been expecting them ... and I guess Camel Archers soon too?
We'll see about Liberalism; not sure whether I'll get there first, or what I'll be taking at the moment ... I'll probably be looking fr a trade though when it does come through! 9-)

t90 - OK, still playing mostly on instinct to keep the game moving; hopefully I'll have time to really consider the game in the next couple of days, since I think that's warranted. Anyway ...
Edirne completes a Conf Missionary and starts another.
Gaziantep completes a Catapult and starts a Spy to use after my new GSpy has been popped.
Event log tells us that athlete has completed Shwedagon Paya (it never did seem a practical build without Gold), Hinduism has spread in Diyarbakir (useful to fight Zapotec's culture since it is still the state religion until my Golden age arrive), and there are Barbs massing on the borders.
Conf missionary heads to Istanbul.
Heroic HA heads to Ankara to guard against Barb Archer.
Nearly Heroic Archer stays on the SE border to intercept a Barb Warrior.
3Pop Whip the Forge in Konya - will grow back 2Pop in next 2t - Barracks next.
1Pop Whip Forge into Samsun - it grew to work unimproved tile - Library to follow for Culture output &will also be whipped.
Even with 10Workers (& Dreylin's Lackey) running around, I'm running out of improved tiles to work at many of my cities.
-56g or +88g for Binary with 100g in the pocket. Liberalism is now a 1t tech at 100%, but I want to make sooooo race me for it. Switch research to Machinery (still at 0%) as my next target. If I can go through Mach to Eng and Ruff can grab Gunpowder, then we can bulb Chemistry ... or if sooooo really doesn't want to waste research into Liberalism, maybe even Steel....

Updating Ruff:
Quote:Ruff,
I am 1t from Lib and have the gold in stock to pop it. I'm continuing to save gold, and then intend to grab Machinery and then maybe Engineering if sooooo gives us the chance. I don't think we should take any risks, but it seems like we may have an opportunity to grab Chemistry if you can get Gunpowder in time. If sooooo doesn't start researching Liberalism, then I'd suggest one of us max-researches Chemistry while the other feeds them gold, and we bulb Steel a la PAL.
Another option would be for me to pop my Artist for a Golden Age and use that to accelerate us through to Steel...?
Alos, just incase you haven't noticed; athlete has discovered Guilds, and traded it on to sooooo (probably for Education) ... of course sooooo doesn't have any Iron yet, so we don't need to worry about Knights quite yet.
Dreylin.
