Turn 100:
Here's Pitboss 13's very own Canada, Victoria of Portugal. There are a few bigger empires out there, and plenty better, but nobody even approaches this empire's foodlessness. In this cold northern wasteland Canada thrives, growing wider and wider, the leader in total denial about ever having to fight a soul-crushing war of exhaustion to his south. Here are a few high points of the nation; I glaze over on city-by-city screens but if anyone wants to see something, yell.
The capital we're shown to exhaustion lately; still working on the aqueduct for the Hanging Gardens. This is what passes for my "core", Ottawa, Quebec, Winnipeg, and to answer Goreripper, soon Ellesmere and Montreal, with Montreal being my exuse for a GP farm and Ellesmere soon starting Moai. Quebec will be growing onto some capital cottages and some of her own, while Winnipeg will stagnate at size seven working clams, two grass cottages, one capital plains cottage, and the three mines available.
The Wild East; gated by little Regina of the the high hammers and low food, this peninsula spites Brick's spite by actually being pretty good. Calgary will be a pain to grow but a joy to stagnate with all those power tiles, while Edmonton and Vancouver will fish and share deer to work nasty plains cottages and lovely coast. There is a wonder or two in all these forests; I'll have to figure out what exactly I want. Maybe the Apostolic Palace, if Theology still has a religion for me after the current tech push. I dread the irigation work it will take, but the south tip of the peninsula will get something eventually.
South Fillerton. Technically only one of the cities exists thus far, but I have already hooked up all of the food sources for them! Kill me. Saskatoon will work farms and make spicewine, while Halifax is going to get pushed up on the triple-shared corn to work its fantastic hammer potential. This place is going to get a round of stone-helped walls, because Vikings Exist.
These are the odds-and-sods other isles around. Baffin is a terrible wee boffin, but hey, silver, and it might have something interesting to its north. I might ignore the tundra place; we'll see what an explorer finds. I hate to steal from Montreal, but St. John's will fish itself up to whatever happy cap it is at, then stagnate with a mine and cottages/coast. I have no idea right now where else to expand...but I'll need to know in a dozen turns, because that's when I'll be looking further.
My economy is actually doing really well right now, probably because I'm Victoria. Nary a library in sight, but lots of precious metals and coastal work keep me in the money. I'll be wanting a library push soon, I'm sure, but thus far I've been doing okay with what I've got. Crop yield will always underperform in this frozen wasteland. The rest is all fairly ho-hum.
My surroundings are fairly bleak. Nakor and Pindicooter are south, but mostly its just Pindicooter; killing them would suuuuck. Maybe if they get blood rushing to head stupid with Nakor during the preatorian era, or entangled with Lewwyn, we could make crap happen but right now the second I have nowhere else to go the game stops being fun for all of us again.
To the west lies India; weakened by mighty dtay's hammering and their own stupid wonder/religion policy, they are eddible and I'm not ruling out trying something in a while, but for now I just hope they research Alphabet soon for open borders.
And that, my friends, is my turn 100 report. Now open for questions/comments/snark.
