Strongly agree with this. It was a big factor in my reluctance to trust the stories being told by Roland and other members of the villager network. Given the difficulty in establishing truly reliable information, it just did not seem plausible that the network had been built up so rapidly without being compromised.
Add in the changing and at times contradictory stories which were put forward, and it seemed extremely probable to me that the network had at least one wolf feeding incorrect info into it.
Apparently that was not actually the case, and the issues came from other causes. But as a standard villager on the outside, that was extremely difficult to tell at the time.

Quote:A note about the way I played too: I remember Selrahc posting in WW1 lurker thread that the he only considered people to have "won" if they survived to the end of the game. I really went into this game with that mindset. My Roland accusation was predicated on a couple things:
That was actually T-Hawk rather than me.
I would say you win if your team wins, and you can take pride in their victory if you think you helped it.
Anyone who actually survives to the end probably deserves special mention, even if it isn't necessarily a reflection of how well they played.
If I was artistically inclined, I'd have given out trophies. 1 set to everyone on the winning team, alive or dead. 1 set to the people who survived to the final day. Then 1 each to my pick of MVP for the wolves and villagers.
EDIT: Also, Witches were hanged in Britain and in most European countries. Heretics were the ones burned at the stake.

My mistake, I remember reading it in passing and I suppose I just attributed it to you. In any case it informed my play. I look forward to the next game armed with this experience.

Rowain, ironically my list was what i firmly believed at the time, but after dying i believed it to be less and less true. I started to heavily suspect Mr NG and thus Haphazard also.
I was confident i had a good take on generally who was who whilst alive. As for your other points, they are covered in this thread and i won't get into them again.
On a side note, i actually now begin to realise why people like Haphazard never trusted me. Maybe i was too trusting as it turns out both Lewwyn and Roland totally sold me out! Lewwyn, your judgment was so off in this game

Hahaha, I'll attempt to play a quieter game next time, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. I still think that lynching Roland was for the best. If not for everyone else, then at least for myself! I don't deny I made some bad calls but I think the game was fubar from the word go, and in the end, Villagers came out on top, no? I still think its quite good because it was a 6 WW game with a possessed included as well! Granted that possessed eventually worked in our favor, but the intent was there.
But Gaspar was saying in his debrief he found the power axis between Roland and I not to work. I happen to agree. I destroyed it . Even though Roland ended up villager, I was a little happy. It is what it is. I hope it was entertaining for lurkers too.

You were great on day 1 where you sat back, thinking everything through and then made your epic entry. But once you joined the secret network and started to act as spokesman you completly lost it. You got extremly emotional outthinking yourself and there were times were i really feared the game might hurt you.
Maybe I was wrong about the Day? It was the day when you said to me, in PM, that you no longer trusted me - at all. In that case, yes, you nudged too hard, because you turned your entire attitude around in public, and it just made you seem... more suspicious. At first I thought you were just miffed that I lied (understandable; not proud of that day, honestly - blame Kyan ), but then I started to think it was something else. 'Course, I didn't really pick up on you until about the day I was lynched (before that I never had enough to really push for lynching you, I don't think), and by then it was too late to do anything but sit back and watch it all play out.
You're right that I lost my focus after Day 1. I won't say the game "hurt" me. I will say I started to let it vex me too much. I think I just became too involved in it, and not in a way I was enjoying. I greatly enjoyed Day 1, to be honest. Everything after that was a roller-coaster - some good, some bad.
In any case, after sleeping on it, I think I may stick my neck out for WW3, and just keep a very low profile. :P I'm not really in the mood to dedicate a huge amount of my time to anything at this point, but an hour or two a day I could see myself happily contributing. We'll see.

Hey! I never intentionally sold you out. Honest! I was flustered, because Lewwyn was FURIOUS. I didn't proof-read my response before I posted it. It was just a huge mistake on my part - a very costly one, and I am truly sorry for it. That whole day was just a huge mess. I still don't know why I ever let you talk me into that plan! I didn't even put up much of a fight! :neenernee
Oh well. All's well that ends well, yes? I still owe you that keg - or whatever your preference is.

We didn't coordinate our votes. Everyone voted what he thought best. I don't know if this did help us to survive that long or not. On the negative side we had several lynches that might have been avoidable (sandover, uberfish) on the other side the village lacked good targets and lynched Roland which IMO is the most baffling thing to happen in this game.
Selrahc and myself couldn't be saved, but it would probably have been worth getting Sareln lynched on day 4 anyway as enough villagers were voting for him to provide cover.

Yeah, I'm still surprised so many were willing to lynch me on the basis of so much smoke. As I said when it all went down, well done Uberfish, how the hell did that almost work?

Roland ate the lie. He at that time was the strongest villager.
