Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

Do you guys think that WPC would take GPT to not be mad at our taking 'their' cities if it came to a paid peaceful coexistance? The argument being 'we have better tech so we can get more out of these cities than you can.'

I think they would be mad if we took their cities, wouldn't you be mad? However, I'm not saying we shouldn't take their cities, we have to end this war as soon as we can, and the rules do forbid gifting cities. File it under "too bad, so sad" and let's go capture whatever is necessary to wipe out Team .de as quickly as we can. I don't see any reason to throw money at WPC, they'll resent us for taking their share of the spoils anyway, why waste the gold?

I think we should first take care of "our cities", then simply ask WPC if it is okay for them if we take a particular city X. It is entirely possible that they say yes as they are not that close to capturing themselves. If they say no, we argue that we need to kill Germans as quickly as possible, blah blah & blah, and proceed while trying to minimize the diplo hit.

I think we could present it as either we continue to take other cities to end the war quickly. or they must allow us to make our own peace deal with the Germans as there are no more spoils for us to take

How about "if only you hadn't wandered around the woods you could have got some more of these..." I'd be happy softening up some of the cities for them to take, but only if they are anywhere near them, which doesn't seem likely.

I don't think this is something we need to worry about very much. We finish taking the cities in our group first. Then we'll take Wismar (which was on neither team's list), then we take a couple more if WPC is still dragging along. In doing so we would be following both the letter and the spirit of the agreement. If they aren't happy, I'll do my best to deal with that, but we don't need to feel guilty here. We invested significantly more hammers/beakers into this war than them anyway, and they seem to be aware of that.

Sounds good scooter. Also, I think we shouldn't ask them if they are ok with us taking a city, but rather informing them in a nice way. I am sure scooter will deal with that.

From WPC:

WPC Wrote:Hi Scooter. We reduced the city defences and bombarded their units. We also proceeded with a number of attacks. More than we probably should have, but we have minimized the damage they can do next turn, and we killed a couple of key units, and we have more units streaming in. There are about 25 units on the roads behind the mountains and set to arrive in the turns ahead.

Can you use your chariot to take out the German chariot to the west of you (keyboard direction 4), It is at 0.2 strength, so you will probably kill it without any losses and can then retreat to the stack. Thanks!

How's things down south?

Cheers! Beta

Anyone around and able to jump in to take an updated screenshot of the area?

Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

I think the Germans had about 20+ defenders in the city - mostly redlined but still. And the WPC stack was also mostly redlined - the healthiest units were the archers.
