I think its generous to call Great Wall a mediocre wonder. wink

We played t104-105.

I'm not really up for a full report because I only get #engagement on my shitposts, but a few interesting pictures from the game...

What could cause that precipitous a manufacturing decline DURING a golden age? He's done a few whips, most likely trying to get Moai going in Roadhog, the city we've thought about trying to raze roughly 3567893 times, but that's barely a blip in his CY. Answers on a postcard.

How sexy are we?

Pretty friggin sexy, I'd say.

I'd say it understates, honestly. Oriath is pretty clearly the best city in the world.

Not a lot of world news this turn, beyond Lewwyn revolting mid-GA to Vassalage, which tells us he won't be going for Civil Service. That's mostly good news, because it means we can basically draft tech him all the way to knights. Also, our knights are better than his knights. neenerneener

We planted Sarn last turn at the filler spot between Ascent and Lioneye's Watch. Next turn we will plant Ship Graveyard at the whales on the inland sea and Mud Flats on the tundra peninsula. That's probably the end of our settling for a little while, at least until we decide Serdoa is at the acceptance stage of grief over the loss of his pigs at Novgorod and we get ready to plant the city south of Solaris Temple (Feeding Trough?) That probably relatively well corresponds with said better knights coming on line and we decide to start naming Superdeath and/or Serdoa's cities for them since they've been too lazy to do so. devil

These will look better next turn when we turn tech all the way on for the first time during the GA:

TOP 5 FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE GAME CURRENTLY

  1. Being in a 12t golden age. Is there anything more fun in Civ4 than being in a GA? Not many things. Its just so satisfying to open your save everyday and see your Civ on steroids.
  2. Playing a game against relatively skilled players. SD and Bob are obviously a tier below the other 4, but SD had a very strong opening by his standards so there are no patsies here. It just makes everything feel more important when there isn't a runaway leader or a fallaway scrub.
  3. The head-to-head with Lewwyn. Lewwyn is ahead but not by *that* much so it sort of reminds me of our battle with Commodore in 38, except that given the map and our relative relationships, its more of a sibling rivalry than a bloodfeud.
  4. Having clear goals. We've basically always had something like a 20t plan at every stage of the game and the whole of our civ is pointed in the direction of achieving said goal. Its a fun way to play because its very satisfying when you reach the goal. The most recent one was getting Moai and all the civics in before the GA. The next one is obvious...
  5. Cataphracts. Did you know that the Byzantines get a knight replacement with 2 additional base strength? We should build some of those.

TOP 5 REASONS PBEM IS BETTER THAN PITBOSS

  1. Civ was designed to be played with sequential turns.
  2. Its a more relaxed game.
  3. I prefer a smaller game because its less likely to be decided purely by the map.
  4. You have all of your previous saves. If you want to go back and see how you could have done something differently/better, its as easy as loading a save.
  5. Nostalgia.

TOP 5 MOST FRUSTRATING THINGS ABOUT ARSENAL RIGHT NOW

  1. We can't score.
  2. We're on our 3rd manager since Arsene and the most recent game before today featured a midfield duo of Granit Xhaka and Mohammed Elneny. Dansgame
  3. The fact that you can't bin off 3/4ths of the squad.
  4. The fact that you can't bin off the owners.
  5. The fact that we keep signing washed up players from Chelsea. Go Willian go and take Luiz with you.

TOP 5 FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT RB IN 2020
  1. That it is still around playing Civ4
  2. That the politics thread is segregated to a portion of the forum I never think about so I never have to think about it
  3. You can't catch/spread Covid from a webforum
  4. GES's Omar impression
  5. That Herman Gigglethorpe does not give a single F if anyone is reading/replying to his posts. Its amazing.

TOP 5 LEAST FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT RB IN 2020
  1. That it has moved from PBEM to Pitboss as its primary method of play
  2. That nobody responds to my threads anymore. Unlike HG, I do care. Biblethump
  3. That Lewwyn talked me into signing up for PB55
  4. That Weeb Fox didn't really stick
  5. That Brick is too busy and there's no new werewolf games

It really is. I always try to assume no-one is reading my threads so I don't get too disappointed by the lack of response, but HG clearly has a self-image of steel.

So what you're saying is, Fintourist is as usual great and as soon as he ceased dedlurking, SD reverted to mean?
