Draft to Darrell:
Quote:I might not be available for chat this weekend so I'll send an email instead.
This time we'll be explicit. There's an island starting 4W2S of the clams we discussed earlier, that continues northwest. So it's across a narrow strait from both our continents. We would like to settle that island. Is that okay with you?
In exchange we will alter our dotmap and refrain from stealing your clams.

Reply from Shoot:
Quote:That would be fine. All things being equal with the gold you'd get, Bursa would probably be easiest as it is closest to you guys and you already have vision on it so there's no need to explain where it is

My reply:

I will send that darrell message... And sent.

Ok, got it. Been chatting with all and sundry so we can turn it round tonight.
Some interesting info:
Lord Parkin will be playing Kyan's turns while he is away - 5th to 19th - and Kyan is looking for an NAP until T85-90. I was fine with it but said I would check with you.
Shoot had been dissuaded from going for the HG by Kyan, whereas rego was going to land it this turn also.
Also, Shoot is going to settle 1N of the wines soon, and further north of that soon-ish (in order to dissuade Kyan - no mention of any interest from us, but it's not a great location any more). I also mentioned our clam location on our continent and he seemed ok with it.

So, I played the turn, settling two new cities... Up to 10 now.
The Great Merchant was sent over to Shoot, running the trade mission next turn. I shudder to think what 100% research for a number of turns will do for our GNP rep.
Quite a lot happened this turn, including us getting circumnavigation. The Hanging Gardens was built as we know, but also there was another Great Prophet. And we founded 2 x Delhi.
Circumnavigation enabled our galley to explore quite far up here, but next turn I plan to come back and take the warrior back home whilst moving the galley round to explore either the other side or to the SW island.

Here is Trading Post with the overflow kicking in. Nice. We can now build and then whip a forge for more overflow.
I found two locations for new settlers. Firstly, Investment (which could arguably work the other mine, but I'm trying to grow cottages):
Also, Seaside, after growing next turn (at which point it can work two scientists).
Feel free to whip them at will.

So, the two cities I settled. Firstly, north of Gold Rush.
Secondly, on the SW arm, giving us a good view of Hong Kong.
Yeah, I'm working two grassland forests. This never would have happened in novice's watch, but it's not for long. Clams will be worked soon (next turn in the latter city's case). It does leave us short of trade routes, so settling those islands will help us.
This is our income/expense table on T63.
Which is a vast change from T55.
Incidental to all this, CoL was indeed a 1-turn tech on 50% research, and Confucianism popped in Trading Post. Not bad considering.

Save is in (this is a got it) and this doesn't sound good from darrell...
Quote:Well this all became moot rather fast. You're not going to be happy with anyone when you get the save back. There's no point in trying to make excuses with you, but I will say its your own fault from playing such a tight game so far ;-). Things developed...quickly, I guess and here we are.

Worse than I imagined. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
I haven't played the turn (not least because I didn't know whether to accept Kyan's Cease Fire without being able to see exactly what I was accepting).
As I said, I'll be out of town in a few hours until tomorrow afternoon.
