For some reason they're settling further away than their deal would allow. Maybe M3's city has something to do with this.

It's fine. Since they were ready to settle it now, it would obviously be too late to renegotiate, anyway. I'm happy with the land split anyway, my main interest in the marble area was that it's so heavily forested.
If you know what I mean.

I was thinking that they might decide to plant on the marble, despite the close quarters. But we said "at least 4 tiles away from our cities" so that would conflict with our city S of horses. So looks like they may have been screwed a bit here in the north.
If you know what I mean.

and got this correction. So they've already planted.
Quote:Slight mistake - should have written gold mine, not copper mine! It's a good thing I'm better at Civ than writing emails...
So it seems like we still have time to renegotiate. Should I send them a short response asking that?

Now I'm confused. Where did they settle, exactly? 4W1S of our gold mine sounds like an odd placement, although I suppose it would be fine with us.
If you know what I mean.

4W1S of the gold ...
In this screeny from M3 it's between the wheat to the SE & the silk(?) to the NW.

Ah ok, I see now how that fits in with the other settlements we agreed on. I was thinking that city would go one tile west, earlier.
If you know what I mean.

Little chat with M3. I've gut feeling we've competition for Pyramids. Nevertheless there is nothing to do to improve our timing so we just need to play our turns and hope for the best.
Quote:me: hi
HAK: Heya.
me: Game offline
HAK: yeah, it looks that way.
me: Found 1 of your your border cities towards Gillette can we get past somewhere?
If I continue North
HAK: Where on the edge are you? The borders will be exapnding in a couple turns, so it might mess with your movement depending on where your unit is.
And is it a scout or other?
Also, I meant to send you a message yesterday but wasn't at my computer much of the day. We see that Gillette has a city for Stone. So it's my guess that they may try for another wonder that needs stone. This could be bad for us if they get out a couple of good stone wonders.
me: ok. Good to know about stone city. How long has it been there?
They've focused lately on hammers that probably means some wonder build ongoing
Possibly Pyramids. Great Wall is possibility too
HAK: Not sure. We only just saw the edge of it's borders last turn, with our Galley that's starting to make it's way along the coast. Next turn we should hopefully see more (showing if the stone is already improved and hooked up)
And yeah, I was thinking of those two as well
me: our scout is NW corner from your city
HAK: NW? Don't you mean NE? NW would already be on our side of the city
me: Iaargh meant to say SW xorner. 'll probably scout what I can in the areas between you too
and then ask permission to go through towards center, if that is ok to you
HAK: so you are on the forest SE next to the river?
ok, yeah. If you continue west towards Gillette's border, you can then go along the edge of their border (which at the time will be within our border). That will be fine.
me: Forest yes. Going to move NW next turn to occupy unforested grassland hill
HAK: oh, ignore me. misread your message before. you said SW and not SE. LOL
You'll already be past our city in that case before the borders expand
me: np. Directions are hard. Empirically 20% of them is wrong
Either said or understood lol
HAK: heh, yeah. So next turn you'll be on the Grass Hill which is NE of the Peak, and W of the SW corner of our border
After that, you're able to continue wherever you want without worry about passing through our borders.
me: ok - good
HAK: Btw, I forgot to check in-game. Did you guys do open borders with Gillette? Or only a NAP? I don't remember what you had said
me: No open borders yet, but we'll open them when there is a possibility for a trade routes. No ROP.
HAK: ROP?
me: right of passage
HAK: ah, right.
me: Strange acronyms that probably only RB players understand

To build up trust level is it ok to reveal that we're building Pyramids to M3? I think it would have little positive effect and thing to discuss about in our next chat.

I don't know. I guess there's a remote chance they might tell Gillette.
But if you just say "we've been planning to build it, if it lasts a bit longer", then we're not really revealing much.
If you know what I mean.
