Are the city ruins and road supposed to be there?

I doubt it, but I'm pretty sure Ramk can remove them, before they become relevant.

It looks like they were not there in the initial screenshots going out to the players, so I doubt anybody made microplans with them in mind.

Serdoa already picked up on it, but it will be interesting to see how people react to a less lush map than RB norms. I mean I like lush maps so glad I'm not playing, but very happy to be lurking it.

As I said the road does give an advantage. Maybe ask Ramk to remove it? He seems to be able to do so easily and unobtrusively.
Exactly my thinking civac, I just sent him a PM asking to remove the city ruins and road for every player except Jowy and AT

So I'm a little surprised that all 5 players seem to have scouted in the same direction. Perhaps I shouldn't be given that its the one direction that appeared open. But I wonder if people are going to get to fully scout out all the first ring possibilities before their settler is out.

Along the river opposite from 1 move terrain makes a lot of sense. I would also immediately scout the river. Tarkeel seems to have been inefficient though. Having to go back to check for seafood when you have 25+ turns before your first settle maybe means you could have done a tighter arc the first time around rather than go far and then rehashing.
Are barbs on for this game? I didn't pay a ton of attention to game settings. With how much open space there is I imagine barbs are going to be a major factor if they are on. |
