Haven't done any analysis yet. Need to go to work in a few minutes. I just played around with the tiles to see how that affected our position in the gnp rankings. Without score this probably won't work I'm afraid, unless we get lucky.

I'm curious if there is food near the flood plains in the northwest. But going southeast is fine too.

Going southeast has revealed a lot of offshore fish, making border pops very important.

This is starting to look like another donut!?
I think next turn we should go S-SW (grass forest), and then NE-SE (unknown coast forest)

This is less lush than I thought. I'm afraid we will likely have to go AH after Hunting over a religion.

Why not just go SW-SW next turn with the scout? There could be more sea food there.

So we need to decide what to research next. Animal Husbandry, Bronzeworking and Meditation (probably can't get away with that one unfortunately) are options. Did you make a sandbox? Ideally, we would have run sims/calculations beforehand. If not I will do some spreadsheeting tomorrow (within the next 22 hours). Please don't do anything irreversible until then. Or better yet run some sims yourself.

I'm making a sandbox now.

Bronze Working looks best to me. It feels weird to neglect the cow, but chops and an early 2pop whip appear to be worth it.
What do you think of:
T12 worker done
T17 deer camp is done. Capitol is size 2. Work the wine instead of the cow, for extra commerce. worker moves to plainshill 2S of capitol
T18 worker moves to grass hill 2W of capitol.
T19: worker mines grass hill
T21: Capitol reaches size 3.
T22: BW complete, swap to slavery. Worker completes grass hill mine.
T23 Worker moves NE to plains forest to chop
T25: Capitol size 4
T26: Worker finishes a chop, capitol whips settler 4-2. Put overflow in to worker?
If we decide to settle the second city in the floodplain valley, then the worker is in a good position to help. If not, he can chop more forests.
We can get a second worker T31.

I think AH gives a settler T29. Either way, the worker has some turns without much to do. Feels like my PB56 start in that way. Except there I at least had The Wheel.

I attached the save file at T0.

This sounds reasonable but please give me some time to compare AH and BW on my own. I don't doubt that you get a settler out faster with BW but the new city may not be able to work any food as we are lacking the tech.

I said earlier that scouting the south and east first was fine but it was really not. The problem is that we need to make a tech decision now and don't know where the second city should go which is critical for this purpose. The river valley in the northwest is the most likely place for a good second city with low movement time, immediate connection, possibly sharing of the cattle.

I can't see the t0 save.

OK, for some reason I can't attach civ4 save files, so here is a link that should work for 30 days: https://ufile.io/zn8tiufx

If it turns out there is an unfortunate agriculture resource in the northwest, I think we still have decent nearby city sites, like the plains hills at 3E or 3W1N relative to capitol.

Fwiw you can always attach zip files.
