I'd be willing to step in to play if ye need more, if not, I'll lurk somebody.
PS But not before the new year, I've to go up home and cook the christmas dinner. And I'll also need two weeks of cover between the 4th and 20th March.

Definitely not till the new year!
Brian, we might need to call on you - I think we have:
* Miguelito (confirmed)
* Brian (only if needed)
* Q (only if needed)
* Auro (waiting to hear)
* Cairo (waiting to hear)
So it seems unlikely we'll be able to launch otherwise. I'll pm Auro and Cairo - unless anyone has their email?
Thanks naufrager, we might have to take you up on that (unless you'd be inclined to play?). I really would prefer to mapmake and lurk personally, but I don't think we'd have enough numbers. I will write up a summary of guidance for FFH2 maps so you don't feel too caught out.
That said, personally I'm somewhat inclined to randomness so I don't think it matters too much how balanced it is.
Moving on a touch to settings, I wonder how people would feel about a slightly advanced start? That is, beginning a little further into the game, with some techs done and possibly a worker (not necessarily era 2, I'd have to look at the settings it generates). Personally I find the early game of FFH2 a bit too slow for MP, even after the changes of EitB.

I experienced the same thing playing EitB singleplayer, idk if it's by intent or design, but the pace is absolutely molassic for a long period before it very rapidly picks up and you're off to the races

I’ll play but only if Q plays as well.

Doh, I guess that seals it!
One thing, I will need cover over October (if we last that long) and possibly a week in Feb-March.

Auro, you've played most recently - were there any aspects of EitB you think warrant a balance pass before we kick off a game? I have some time but it's been literal years since I played EitB - when I have spare time I tend to play ExtraModMod for the BUG integration and better AI, so I'm not certain I'm across everything.
Ginger, its intentional by the original designers of FFH2, who wanted more of a wilderness feel to the whole thing. But it's always been a bit of a bane for MP - waiting 3+ months to get started for real does dampen the enthusiasm.

I'd have no problem with an advancedish start. Getting into the meat of the game would be nice.

Somewhat advanced start sounds good to me. I like randomness at this point with the map but I don’t care if mirrored is easier to do. It’s been over 1,5 years since I played so I’ll just enjoy playing almost any type of map/settings and adapt to that. Regarding EitB balance, I remember it being a well balanced mod in general. That said, it’s been a while so I might’ve forgotten something…

Happy that this appears to be happening, I have to admit my hopes were low.
I'd much prefer if we could have 5 players, as the dynamics between just 4 is a bitunsatisfying to me.
Also I should advert already that I'm going to be travelling all of February. I'll have a computer with me, but it's going to be spotty. If a dedlurker wants to join it would be even more welcome than usual for that reason
