How's it going? Can you explain thinking behind giving SD back his city?

Sorry, too busy now for regular reporting. The war with SD was beyond catastrophic, I did not expect him to have Numidians because I expected to cut off his horse. I did not prepare any spears to cover my stack, he won a couple of lucky rolls and it all went downhill. My army got slaughtered and I had to give back the city, otherwise, he would just take it from me. Incapable of fighting offensive wars as of right now, trying to build Pyramids because otherwise IDK what I am doing with this game.

It is very simple: I literally cannot tech without Pyramids. I have, like, four cottagable riverside tiles and around the same number of nonriverside grassland. Normally I would agree with you but on this map mids are the only lifeline.

Another point (though more minor) in favor of mids is the fact that I have huge problems with happy cap: only one happy resource pre-calendar and no way to tech to monarchy quickly.

I will maybe make a proper update later but I want to put this on record: in Naufragar's situation, the absolute stupidest thing he could do is to stick a crappy city right at my border against my very explicit warning. And if he proceeds with doing it, I intend to demonstrate to him in full how stupid it is. No one will ever say that Gavagai takes this kind of shit from anyone, especially from the guy entangled in a difficult conflict half a world from that area.
