PB75: Superdeath forced to play

I started to wonder how you got Iron Working so soon, until I remembered I had replaced all the jungle in your starting area on the originally rolled map.

Its alright, im getting it for the northern gems anyway. Im enjoying the desert, and what seems to be everyone on the outer edge of it. Is this the African season of Pitboss survivor?

2t from IW. 10ish turns from having the gems city settled. 15ish turns from having both southern cities settled and fortified. Math is roughly 8-10t from now, and currency shouldnt be tooooooo much longer after that. Working a decent amount of cottages. Building plenty of workers for the settler spamming im doing.. Obviously not trying to keep up with the IMP leaders, but trying to do my best. I figure im doing well if im only 1 city behind, or two but im settling soon. ect. Anything anyone wants to know?

I'll do my usual one: Could you do a rundown of your cities and plans for them?

General plans for the north. "scout" is plainly, warrior/scout sentrys to make sure im not being rushed/ect by Naurust. We dont have anywhere near a close border, so id figure no.. but ive done weirder shit. :D

Next turn i found city #8 and catch up with roughly half the board. 2-3t after that i found the pig/copper/corn city where my axe is. Ricky continues to put 1EP into me every turn. Ill have to check again next turn to see if Gavagai knows anyone else, but he decided to start DUMPING ep into me despite having graphs.. so i assume he wants tech vis, but another part of me thinks he just wants me to not see a power spike that he is going after ricky before i do.

Capital, its currently more military/settler than id like. It had to be the main contributor to expansion.. So, the cottages here are slow going. After this round of praets providing i dont need more.. im hoping ill be close to being able to build a market here. Or possibly run some scientists.

The economic backbone of my empire. it has several cottages yet to grab, and it has enough production potential to build any eco buildings it needs to in the future without requiring the whip. Probably my future academy city?

My PRIME settler pump. Did the real heavy lifting when the capital had to swap to workers/workboats ect. My goal with this city is to run cottages/specialists in it, but it could turn into a decent production center with workshops.

My military city. Signs, and eventual bananas show where im headed with it.

Not the prettiest city, but i think it will turn into a decent commerce city in due time.

Cottages. Lots of them. Prolly give the riverside ones to the other city, and use excess food on scientists?

Newest city to join the fold. got iron up and running for it to work, and gems will be online next turn. Road and other gems and granary should be done in the next... 5ish turns? maybe 6. Probably going to focus granary first as i have fish ready to hook up as soon as borders pop. The gems happy will be a great addition to my ivory boosted cities. Providing i get to Ricky before potentially Gavagai does (he has been rising in power lately) im hoping a bunch of capture gold can propel me to currency, otherwise scientists will have to do.

Any further questions?

Probably as soon as i get a solid.. 4? praets. They will first capture his "copper" city that he has. Hopefully i can see whether it has other food, otherwise ill probably raze it so my super city can have the corn (the pigs will eventually be given away) According to our trade network he doesnt have metal connected. So, Quechas and archers possibly. Dunno if he has archery. He hasnt built ANY military in like.. 15-20t AND he is at 4 cities. I hate to eat a green player, especially their first game.. but someone has to do it. Id rather it not be Gavagai whose power is also rising. Praets beat anything roughly in the open field and pretty much do well against anything in cities iirc, If i beat Gavagai to Rickys cities, and land currency (i can work scientists if raze/capture gold doesnt get me there) Im sure ill be in a very dominant position. After that its a pretty standard expand, keep borders fortified with cats/praets, look for openings on either side of the fence, if not probably go for cuirs/cavalry since i dont think knights are a super large jump over just using praet +cat. Other than maybe surprise attacks across the desert? Hence why i plan on having sentries stationed.

Gavagai has declared war on Mjmd yet again. Judging from the # of posts in his thread, i assume this is a real war? if i see power dips... imma go ahead and eat Ricky sooner than i figured. ETA 15t to declaring if i dont need to whip. Could be sooner if i wanna go in with... like 4. Which, really... would run him over. No horse, no copper hooked up. HOW. Archers are his only way out of an absolute slaughter. Someone calculate a c1 praet vs a fully fortified quecha in a city. 1-2-3 culture borders, doesnt matter. (i lost the link to the vodka thing) Im very curious if its less than 90% victory. Not even factoring in that most of my praets will be able to take Shock or Cover if need be.

I like how this PB is going. Nauf even sent friendly intentions via rice/rice, and then an open borders request. I sent him back the rice/rice, and sent him a more telling, Open borders +fish/fish offer. We still both have a good chunk of land to settle between us, and if he doesnt get to it after i have currency, i might have to snag it. I bet he grabs it in the next 10-20t.
