Anyone else picturing their opponents as their leader's heads from looking at the pbemtracker? For example, when I get an email from Dreylin my mind sees Mehmed with his big beard and funky hat.

Hmmmm. Well my Cousin Itt avatar is actually me, so it's not too far off! wink

I see what you mean though, I have started to imagine Ruff with a strange melon-like head and a scolding finger raised. :neenernee

Hi all,
I want to request that I am allowed to replay my T59 (BC640 save).
I stumbled about a bug in the game related to the build queue.
I have outlined the problem in my private forum and hope some of the neutral lurkers will support this motion here, confirming that the game did something it was not supposed to do.

For you (and maybe ruff as a PBEM veteran knows about it?) here is what happened:
I have A in the build queue with some hammers invested.
Then I decide I want to start B before continuing work on A, as it will get a chop, I'd rather have in B. I queue up B before A and end turn.
Then I get the game back and B has vanished from the build box and A received the chop instead.

So, I want to replay and delete A from the build queue altogether.
This will set back our progress by 1day.

That is a very weird bug. Maybe it's a PBEM thing.

Unfortunately I would be against replaying the turns because I killed a barb on my turn. I'd probably still kill the barb again, but last turn he survived on high health and that's needed to kill another barb next turn.

I wouldn't be happy if we reload and I lose against the barb or get damaged to such low health and have to let the other barb pillage my improvement.

EDIT: Not that I'm doubting your story, but the bug doesn't seem to be universal. When I chopped out the pyramids I had something else in the build lower down and didn't see anything untoward.

For what it's worth, this is consistent with M_H's screenshots and situation as described in his thread.

M_H: Another thought. My understanding is that you can view your civilization after you've hit end turn before sending the save on to another player. If you still have the save you uploaded after your T59, or if you do an exact replay of that turn from the BC640 save you received (even if the game does not end up continuing from that save) is it possible to check to see whether the city in question shows A or B in the queue at that point (i.e. after your interturn but before the next player's turn begins)? If it still shows B, that would suggest looking for the problem elsewhere (I know, not much help to you) but if it already shows A at that point, you could at least test the theory that removing A from the queue would fix the bug: By replaying the T59 save identically except for removing A completely from the queue, then checking after hitting enter but "before passing the save on" whether B is still in the queue. (If it isn't, the point of replaying the save for the real game would be moot, whether or not the other players agreed to let it happen that way.) Would such a test be in keeping with fair play?

To not hold up the game, I will continue to play.
Obviously some testing is required, which needs time.

For the record, I would have had no issues with re-playing the turn. I beleive that if all the moves, etc. were carried out the same (and it would just be mh needing to do so) then the barb results should have been the same on the inter-turn.

Well, I don't know how the random seed works. If m-h plays his turn differently, even if it's just changing a build order, doesn't that change the random seed? Does the random seed even transfer through a PBEM game? I would imagine not. I doubt the email passed between us would contain it.

EDIT: @Dreylin: it's not the interturn barb actions, it was me who attacked a barb on my own turn.

sooooo, the random seed has to be a part of the save file, doesn't it? Otherwise there's no way to perserve it in a single-player game let alone a PBEM.

I must admit that I assumed that anything which would not require a random result (e.g. builds) would not trigger the RNG, so the next number in the queue would remain the same.

If mh re-did his turn, it would be a fairly quick thing to test, no?

Yes, it would be simple to test. If that's what we want then OK.

m-h can replay the save and send it to me by email, not through the pbemtracker.
