Rushed to work this morning - so I didn't have time to take pictures ... but I'll summarize now what seems to be one of the worst turn in this game

:
- Lost
The Pyramids to 2 turns

... sometime even a huge whip on the capital could be acceptable, but I was sooo confident that with 3 other wonders already built ( Great Wall, Colossus and Hanging Gardens ) I could built it in the "normal way" ...

... my dream of a SE suffered a major blow now.

- I settled another city and, together with 2 captured barb-cities, I reach the 9-city level ( probably a good limit for the moment as long as my economy would be crippled without the gold from failed-wonder build

).
- The only good aspect at this point is that now I have enough money to research
Construction in 4 turns ( and even part of the sum for Currency after ).

- A good news ( the only one )- now I have a 11 EXP units as long as my south-chariot survived another axe-attack.

Retreated with the Jaguars as cover in to a safe location ...

- Nicolae outmanouver me in the North - near Aurita and my holy jewish city is now in BIG danger. Let's explain what happens :
- I didn't calculate that his worker will finish the last connecting road in the same turn when he could DoW upon me and left an undefended worker which was captured.
- I placed a non-promoted Jaguar in the last remaining forest in order to force him to sacrifice an axeman to kill him. Unfortunately the gods-of-dices was against me and my rookie Jaguar was killed by a single axeman ( which is now at ~2.5 HP ). This was bad ... but not a disaster.
- What could be the real disaster is the fact that I moved one of my axeman to protect ( together with a spearman ) the gold-hill. He use this opportunity to place his mini-stack - 3 axemans + 1 spearman for cover - between that hill and the city. I suicide my axeman into his shock-promoted axeman - bring him to ~1 HP.
- My only ( slim ) hope is related to the fact that I moved one spearman from another city into Aurita - and this could protect it from a blitz-attack from Nicolae chariot(s ? ).
- So ... opposing forces in the area are now :
Mine ( in the city, with 40% culture ) - 2 axeman with basic +10% promotion, 2 archers ( 1 promoted to CityDefense ) and 1 spearman.
His - 2 spearmans ( both promoted if I'm remember well ), 1 or possible 2 chariot in his border city which could reach mine due to roads, 5 axemans ( 2 of them wounded but 3 promoted to shock ... fortunately none promoted as CityRider ... ).
This is reaaaaly, really bad situation !!

As long as I didn't have time to set up a simulation ... I just wait to receive the save to check if my units will hold ground there or not ...
