Yuris does seem to be playing poorly or has given up. Latter would be quite sad. He shouldn't be attacking out with spears, if he doesn't have sufficient defenses in place to keep his capital.
Mist Wrote:Well, I believe I just made Yuri's game whole lot worse. We had an outside chance of getting his capital if he went about defending it badly.
He went about it very badly.
Offered cease fire after this, we have no means or reason to push further. If he refuses so be it, right now he's not really in position to hurt us in any way.
Commodore Wrote:Really, I don't see how I can do anything but hit Gaspar, though. Apparently he's gone suicidal: He took a 50/50 shot at Aylee the marble city and then offered peace. So it was a move of pure, 100% spite, not at all intended to help himself win. This means he's given up, and if he's given up he wants to take me down or out with himself. I don't particularly care to spite things one way or another, but I want to win. So if I am to win, I have to exterminate the angry fellow up north, who has completely thrown away his game. I seriously doubt his game was ruined by me checking his farmer's gambit a couple dozen turns ago, but if it was, then his spite is sane. Otherwise, it's irrational.
Either way, rather than trying to capitalize on Yuri's distress, he's said he wants me to lose more than he wants to win. Fair enough, we all need goals.
Taking a 50/50 at little risk to oneself, to make sure you land the MoM, is throwing your game away? That's rich.
Mistabod really are playing a great game. Didn't know they got GLH, and now they're about to get GLib in their capital with an Academy, and all this after a 12 city HG. Last thing you want to see is Byz of all civs running away with the game, but it's slowly starting to happen.
If I'm reading it right, Mist will beat Commodore on turn order for TGL on T85, providing they whip it in next turn. Oddly enough they think their competiton is from Dave who lacks Aesthetics
So Dave sends a message saying that Commodore's coming with Knights, and GasNob interpret it as a message saying that Commodore's coming with Horse Archers and Axes.
I say we ban these AI Diplo messages before an official 'Realms Beyond Code-Speak' language gets formed.

Ehh, close enough. Idk bout banning them...
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.
1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.
2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.
3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.
4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
Use of first letter of city names seems to be the only kind of exploitative thing to me. The rest of the stuff can be rather difficult to decipher (using gold and resources to communicate meanings) so if you want to put the effort in, great I guess. Everything you offer by AI Diplo is going to communicate something, it's just a matter of how explicit it is.
