[SPOILER] Kyan + thestick. Is that the best you can do?

Well... Fishing/Mining may have backfired on us, leaving us without land food. The two best city spots are obviously designed to be settle in place and the coastal spot.

Here are the current plans as I see them:
Settle In Place
1. Go Worker first. Research Bronze Working, then chop out a Settler. Do nothing but chop out Workers, Work Boats, and Settlers for the opening.
1b. Same as 1, except go Worker->Worker.
2. Go Worker first, but research Agriculture. Improve the Corn, then start chopping.
2b. Research Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Bronze Working, in that order. Grow the city up before swapping over to a Settler, building it through actually working tiles.

Coastal Capital
There seems to be two places to settle the capital: 1N of the Warrior and where the Warrior is standing. 1N is settled T2, while Warrior's spot is settled T1. 1N looks better.

1. Settle the capital, research Bronze Working and chop out a Work Boat. Research Agriculture after than, then swap over to a Settler at Size 2.
1b. Same as 1, but chop out a Worker instead and use two Workers.
2. Research Agriculture and get the rice improved, then start digging mines until Bronze Working comes in.

Odd Plans
1. Settle in place, then go Settler first.
2. Go Bronze Working/Worker, then chop out Warriors and Warrior Rush someone.
3. Settle 1NW, giving up almost all of our food for more forests
4. Move blindly upriver, hoping for more food/forests.
5. Give up and delete the Settler. (Yes, this is a joke)

Oh it is, which is why I keep mentioning Bronze Working. Mistakes...

Ok, we have the turn:

Moving the warrior onto the plains hill revealed another food tile at the coastal spot- grass sheep. This is suddenly an interesting choice.

After playing around with some quick dirty simulations and doing some math, I decided on:

My logic is twofold. If we move, we lose two turns. In addition, despite there being more food, we lose worker turns as the food is more spread out compared to the in place location.

Obvious first tech is agriculture with worker build. Civ IV is a pure snowballing game. The coast is a better long term capital, but so what? Long term- I can move it! Short term, we want to explode as best we can without EXP. The coast site would make a damned nice second city considering we're creative though.

Another evident benefit of starting with knowledge of Fishing: The ability to correctly identify a red herring.

First of all, should we be debating the path of our civilization through email or through this forum?

Only thing I didn't mention is wondering how we'll handle turnplaying.

How does mackoti's thread have 1 post from him and 25 lurker posts?

So uh, do you have a fun naming convention idea yet?

I'm voting for dwarf planets/asteroids. Planets are too common, apparently SevenSpirits already did moons, and I don't know enough stars. List: Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, Eris, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta. (I originally posted Ceres first, but then decided to put it in the asteroid group). After that, just start running down the list of asteroids for cool names.

Other option is space exploration craft, but they're usually named after scientists (Cassini, Galileo, Hyugens) or have names in common use (Voyager, Mariner, Pioneer, etc.)

Working on the flavor writeup for Werewolf 41, Day 1 as my guess for what's going on in mackoti's thread.

I went ahead and played the turn. Almost nothing interesting goes this early.

Here's the current extent of scouting:

Production's just there to note the hills there, assuming we find food. Those forests upriver look good. Also note that everyone has settled in place.

I went ahead and renamed the civilization. We're now the leader of the Minor Planetary Empire (at least once I change it from 'small').
