Lots of jungle, but settling on the sugar E of the lake not a terrible city site. Scout 2 SE next?

Waiting on me. rant

Not any more at least. Gaul will go S SW next turn. SW of the pig looks like a good second city (worker/settler pump). Still too early to say for sure though.

Lots of forest. Should probably check the demos but having my hands full dealing with PB12. Good thing it is so early.

We have visitors...

Fully expect the Zulus Pindicooter to Dow and try to do to us what Commodore did to them in PB8. They also attacked us in PB8 but that was more due to necessity (i.e. they wanted to survive). Would I blame them? Nope. I hate to say it but until we can prove ourselves in war, opposing players are going to see us as an easy elimination target. PB12 spoiler...
Combined arms (not just axes or chariots) should always be the goal to survive any early rush. Relying on axes too long is dangerous as we found out. That war turns out quite different if we have an axe/spear/archer in every front line city and archers fortified on the copper.
We will get out a warrior to scout Pindicooter after the warrior which is needed to protect Rhu. Probably need a third warrior (to cover the worker we will whip @ sz 2) as well. BW->Hunting then decide. We have enough food (with the cows improved) to grab Archery first before going Agri->AH if we don't have copper. There is a good reason for this. Even if we have horses in the BFC, chariots are not a good defensive unit. PB12 spoiler...
Another mistake is we settled our second city before we knew where copper was. If we had waited, we could have grabbed the copper with our second city instead of third.
Pottery after that will be the next priority and then most likely Sailing/Writing or Sailing/IW if we lack metal.

Sorry about the mishmash of PB12 spoilers but it would be foolish to ignore lessons learned elsewhere and expect to do better in this game.

Yep...

On the surface, much less an aggressive move than a certain other PB. Look what we have here...

0/0 EP on Lewger and 8/8 EP on Pindicooter. Both strong opponents so I decided to spilt EP. With our neighbors (so far), this might as well be an AW game. The demos...

We found Lewger's capitol. Can't see it yet (i.e. no line of sight) but that is why I like to check the globe culture view when exploring. Quite handy.

DOW next turn (after they play to be safe) and offer peace the same turn. I expect Lewger would do the same thing in my place and don't think he will interpret this as an aggressive move. Time will tell though.

Didn't feel like waiting...

Lots of forests and a really nice capitol. There is copper available in a decent location...

We want to grab the copper and pig first ring with our first settler. The location I have marked 2nd? makes a good helper city for Rhu (working the cottages we will eventually lay down). Also a very good choke point so there is that.

Tentative tech path. I think we probably will slave out a worker, finish 2 warriors then chop out a settler for the copper before getting out at least another warrior followed by one or two more workers. After Hunting->The Wheel, Pottery before Agr->AH makes the most sense. We probably wait to found our third city until we have cottages online but I do think in this case, a quick second city to grab the copper is almost a necessity. Axes and spears will be a good defense until we can find out where horses are (grab Archery after Writing but before IW). Really don't feel like getting rushed again.

With the amount of land (to spawn bust), and who our neighbors are, we are going to need a really big military. To do that, we are going to have to get cottages down really early and will need more than the bare minimum of workers. I don't think we want to expand slowly but getting our first three cities fully developed before pushing out into the jungle should be the priority. The southern spot marked "Great spot!" can be settled relatively quickly though (fourth city?), we just need to make sure we have defensive units first since we are going to have a long exposed front to defend.
