[SPOILERS] Pindicator Walks With Dinosaurs

Whatever Turn This Is. 41? I think It's 41. Oh, and Also the Turns that Led Up To It

So a few turns ago we did this:

This is what passes for excitement in a land of dinosaurs. Let that sink in. I have dinosaurs for cities, and all that happens are we get to figure out which city works which tile. Like I have accountant dinosaurs. The most boring dinosaurs ever. Anyway, the point was that we wanted to swap the plains hill mine to T-Rex so it would get 15h overflow + 9h from this turn = Most of a Granary. The wheat goes to Allosuarus because a wheat is the same thing as a plains hill - so really Allosaurus is working the same yield as before. (Not technically true; the wheat yields 1 more towards a worker, but we'll lose that in the rounding.)

Thank you, Mr. Muldoon. I'm glad someone appreciates what I'm doing here.

We also moved our finished settler towards city #3. Sad news: Commodore beat us to being the first to a third city by one measly turn.

Then last turn we did this:

New city! Hurray new city! It took the deer, I shuffled tiles back around between foodless Allosaurus and T-Rex, and we end up working a bare wine tile because right now I think I'm more worried about commerce than anything else. And that also gets us to 6hpt, which is just enough to finish that Granary. 2-turn granary without any mines and without any whipping. I just blew my own mind and I already did it.

Workers are trying to hook up some sheep, but that's a turn away. Also, I had to go to 50% on Bronze Working because I was thinking expenses would be 3gpt instead of 4. Like I said, accountant dinosaurs.

Oh yeah, new turn!

So now sheep to Brachiosaurus, regular tiles for T-Rex and Allosaurus. T-Rex is going to grow 2 sizes in 3 turns, thanks to that granary, and at size 5 we're going to whip our next settler to completion. Allosaurus is just going to pump out workers because it doesn't have any food, and Brachiosaurus is going to try and be my first real second city. If that makes any sense. And yes, I'm building a cottage on a plains tile. But it's a river tile, so at least it isn't as awful as it could have been.

Demos!

Before I finished the sheep i was last in food. This is not going so well, is it?

Turn 042

We are not alone

The long sandbox is over, friends. There are enemies in the world now.

It is still a small world, but there are rays of sunshine among it

Where does the next city go? I'm going to whip a settler as soon as BW is done. Do I go east and get the fur/fish/corn/cow? The strongest city but the most distant. East for the ivory/cow/fish? Not as strong a city, but still good and safer/closer. Or south for the deer/cow/whale? The worst city, but the closest and easiest to integrate.

I think I will go for the strongest city, the best reward

Actually, I'm going to delay that fish/corn/fur spur for a little while longer. It needs more to get going than other cities with a wb and border pop on top of the usual granary. So that leaves the cow/ivory/fish/rice in the east.

And it also means I can keep the option of a late Stonehenge open if it is still around when I finish Mysticism. I can get a 1-turn Henge with 4 chops and plenty of overflow. I think that's worth leaving open as an option.

its funny, this game has such a tight spread of player talent, im more cautious than usual about comments. i think it was Seven in 23 who said the better you get the more lurkers spoil wothout knowing it.

Oh yeah, I've noticed that the more audience participation you get in a thread the more chances arise for someone to slip up. Happened a couple times in pb8 and pb13, though thankfully nothing bad enough to affect decisions.

I don't want to be spoiled but it is nice to get feedback every now and then. smile

I also am having a really hard time with the micro this game. There just aren't any easy decisions and it's getting a little exhausting. I'm kind of hoping that someone builds Stonehenge in the next four or five turns, otherwise I'm going to have to start getting workers in positron to try and one-turn it.

i noticed you were narrating micro decisions as if a teammate might be chiming in. you and scooter are both team-driven dudes, it's a bummer you two have gone the way of The Beatles.

Turn 047, The Reckoning

I'm about to be punished for all my whimsical play this game.

[Image: pb19%20-%20turn047%20-%20gameoverman.jpg]

That's Mongolia folks, the same Mongolia that just landed Stonehenge this turn. The same Mongolia that has the best combination in the game.
Unreported, i played last turn while sick, and just messed up all kinds of plans. So all those workers went to their forests two turns before I finished BW, not one, and I wasted time just roading in place.

Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. All visible copper is west and north of me. Black Sword is going to out-expand me (although everybody is doing that). Do I chariot rush here? I could chop a few out pretty easy. Or do I just sit back and forget about the win, and just play in my sandbox. Those look like fun games when people just are left to pursue what they want; I'm just not so sure I will be left alone if I do.

I'm really considering chariot rush. He can't have that much if he's been expanding and pursuing wonders. And I'm close and have workers in position to chop out chariots.

*pindicator rolls, nevermind how one rolls a one-sided die*
