[spoilers] Commodore and Dtay: Saladin of the Gael

Interesting wins, what can I say, you convinced me man. Duns mean we can have 2-mover stacks with *teeth*.

Took too long to write up my thoughts, but the end conclusion was: "Meh, there are like 6 civ options that are all about as good as each other and nothing is great".

Which dovetails perfectly with just opting to get the first leader choice.

I think we should strongly consider a myst start if no one else picks a Myst civ, 1 possible competitor. Which of the available ones I think I like Celts the most.

Celts and Mali are probably the civs I like most of the available. Or maybe Russia just for the start techs and Cossacks being pretty good (agree research labs not that good without phi).

Yeah, I'm second guessing a lot. There are a loooot of mysticism civs, Mali would have been much safer and a lot more use would be found in the UU (huge map, land heavy...lotsa barbs incoming). But dangit, we're Spiritual, let's get religion.

On the subject of naming scheme! So, PB5's theme was still one of my favorites...and PB13 with many of the posts was a tribute to my favorite poet...we're Celts, let's make it all about my second favorite poet in city names:
Gin a Body
Giftie Gie Us
Sweet Afton
Tim'rous Beastie
Luve A Red Rose

And of course, the capital: Gang Aft Agley

I think you'll be plenty pleased with Celts. Just build as many swords as you can get away with.

Okay, added the pick list to the front post. All decent enough although:
Quote:2. Donovan Zoi - Mehmed II of Zulu
9. Grimace - Roosevelt of Khmer
Why not Aggressive and Expansive, respectively? Synergy, guys! Particularly you Don.

Wee, sleekit, cowran, tim'rous beastie,
O, what panic's in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Wi' bickering brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an' chase thee,
Wi' murd'ring pattle!

I'm truly sorry Man's dominion
Has broken Nature's social union,
An' justifies that ill opinion,
Which makes thee startle,
At me, thy poor, earth-born companion,
An' fellow-mortal!

I doubt na, whyles, but thou may thieve;
What then? poor beastie, thou maun live!
A daimen-icker in a thrave
'S a sma' request
I'll get a blessin wi' the lave,
An' never miss't!

Thy wee-bit housie, too, in ruin!
It's silly wa's the win's are strewin!
An' naething, now, to big a new ane,
O' foggage green!
An' bleak December's winds ensuin,
Baith snell an' keen!

Thou saw the fields laid bare an' wast,
An' weary Winter comin fast,
An' cozie here, beneath the blast,
Thou thought to dwell,
Till crash! the cruel coulter past
Out thro' thy cell.

That wee-bit heap o' leaves an' stibble,
Has cost thee monie a weary nibble!
Now thou's turn'd out, for a' thy trouble,
But house or hald.
To thole the Winter's sleety dribble,
An' cranreuch cauld!

But Mousie, thou art no thy-lane,
In proving foresight may be vain
The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men,
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!

Still, thou art blest, compar'd wi' me!
The present only toucheth thee
But Och! I backward cast my e'e,
On prospects drear!
An' forward, tho' I canna see,
I guess an' fear!

It's an omen!
