[Spoilers] Borsche and Johns Laugh And Grow Fat

nah, the barb city is still at Size 1, just one of their warriors pooped out into our land and Axemaniac struck it down. We still wait patiently for the barbs to grow so we can civilize them...
Gavagai swapped into OR/HR this turn.

Lol. I don't know what units GermanJJ has in there, but I think I'd be surprised if it was enough. GermanJJ should have visibility on HAKs city via one of the water tiles so he probably would've seen this coming, though. Good news for us though! If GJJ city falls we can plant in that area (1SW of Burning would be decent... requires a border pop first but gets lighthouse lakes and all 3 resources and safe from germanjoey).

Interesting that HAK would attack like this when he still has a lot of area to settle. It's just two axes and a chariot though so its a pretty cheap attack.

Our land so far. Decent expansion with a lot of improved tiles. Consistently top 3 in food and top 5 in production so not too shabby. GNP is awful but cottages are starting to go down in force now that we have some more rivers under our control. Next settler is gonna pick up Ivory in the south for happiness. After that the next best expansion is back off towards HAK again. Thankfully a mountain range cuts off that piece of the continent. I'll be able to fit 2 more decent cities there and then everything else is filler.

HEre's where we are from a turn ago. HAK's been driven from Joey's lands it looks like, and we have cultural control of gavagai's first ring. He has a barracks there though so he'll get those tiles back in a couple turns when his borders pop. Put a library in Wendy's asap though to increase cultural pressure + its basically our best commerce city.

Ultimately I'm gonna have to move the capital. Popeyes just isn't really a great spot, mostly food/production and little true commerce (not to say grassland cottages are bad, its just, I'd always rather work river cottages). Its better to just use it as a settler/worker pump atm. Its also less centralized and I'm losing most of my money from distance maint costs since almost all my cities are second ring or further away. Five Guys is probably the best candidate for a moved capital - good balance of food, hammers, commerce, and a good centralized location.

We hit 10 cities so expansion is gonna slow until Currency. I'll get some settlers ready for the other two spots across the water but I just can't afford them. I'm limping to currency.

Thankfully cheap Hammams own and I'm getting them online + finally connecting this ivory to blow past the happy cap.

Top 3 in food and hammers.

I love cheap ham.

That's a solid grid of cities you've got there. Interlocking turrets? Grid defense? The cities should all be named Starbucks, there's one on every corner. smile

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

gah I keep forgetting about screenshot tags. The forum that I normally post on just auto resizes. Not my fault everyone should have a 1920x1080 monitor in this day and age!

Not too much has happened. All tiles getting improved, hammams going up + ivory and cities blowing past their happy sizes. Dunkin Donuts borders popped but I'm still mad I couldn't get all 3 spices. Also just limping to currency in the worst way possible, I really should've gone Alpha first probably.

Gavagais score skyrocketed, since he built Hanging Gardens. Good build for him.

HAK has a chariot that's two turns out from Sonic (sitting on the hill tile 1S of the HAK wines, unmoved as of this turn). Had to switch the production from granary to spear frown a chop finished so a spear will come out next turn. Not a huge deal, we need more military here anyway since I've just landed another settler (to be settled after currency), but annoying.

Currency came in and things are a lot better lol. gold at 0% shot from 20gpt to 50gpt. The above city got settled, and the mountains give us nice LoS into HAKs lands. I doubt he'll try anything on us though, he decc'd joey and has tight borders with grimace and comm/dtay. He really needs the routes we'd provide.

Still doing well in MFG and Food, and GNP is starting to recover. Slowly climbing up the leaderboards baby!

The only probably is Gavagai - given his shitty land it only makes sense that he'd be looking to war, and soon. His power is skyrocketing (I think he got construction at some point? I've had visibility of his research but never saw it complete; just switched over to currency at 0% for awhile). I'm not too concerned at the moment, I'm gonna whip some axes into markets in several of my cities to be safe. Tech wise I'll probably have to look at Construction next - I just don't feel safe without catapults. It opens up WE too which isn't too bad (though we'd need HBR first). The other alternative is Calender, for sugars and MoM, or alphabet, for OB.

Well Gav came in and took Dunkin Donuts. Forgot to take a screenshot but he's got about 10~ Numidian Cavs. (After losing 2 on the attack :|) This is gonna be pretty tough to fight out of, but I think I have enough pop and production to get enough spears to spur a defense.
