REM goes on the Sudric Express [Pitboss 33 spoilers]

So a few turns since I updated. Most pics from last turn.

I feel that Gordon now MAY have been a bit of a stretch, especially with Gaspar settling 3 tiles away. Still I now have a machine gun and a rifle in the city to dissuade action from Gaspar. I was worried about a mounted unit strike as about 50% of the time 2 cavalry would be enough to beat a machine gun. We are safe there for the moment and it picked up Gaspars religion so I am getting free culture. After the workboat dry whip and worker whips, I have now just whipped in a theatre there to make sure I keep a good cultural defence there. This WILL probably steal the corn at some point and maybe antagonise things though.

James 999 of Gordon is the newest city. Again a straight dry whip of a workboat and workers building a pig first turn will make this city useful fast. road on incense finished this turn and tile will be improved by next turn before the city grows back to size 3 to work it. After the whip it will get a rifle as it is open to a boat forking both of these cities. I will have a full road connection in 2 turns, and 2 workers to mine the copper when it comes online.

After the chopped settler Henry went for another worker as I will soon need more improvements and to grow my cities. It will go settler next with the last BFC chop and 3 pop whip it again. The settler in the cap on the pic is either going for where BGN scout is or 1E of it. A worker has moved to start roading the horses hill and it can be decided where I will go next turn. The BGN site makes having a final dotmapped city towards Pindicator on a hilll for deer a very easy choice. However 1E saves a forest and kills a jungle, shares the food and will speed up the city... I think I will probably settle for going on the BGN spot because of dotmapping ease, and I will use Henry long term as a GPF. The new city there will pick up cows and be a good hammer site once it gets going.

Thomas I changed back to a rifle to be complete in 2 turns before starting another settler size 6. I feel that although I am going for more defensible spots for the next few cities, I need some extra cover vs Gaspar.

Percy in the East is ready to settle soon. DZ will probably have his hands cut out defending his new barb city to put much out this way for probing my strength. I have one worker going out there helping to road to it, but this will need to whip a worker first off. It has a workboat ready built to use for the site at least.

Edward is getting a rifle, after which I will get another worker then rifle.

Rival wise. Scooter has been watching me at both ends, and has not yet put down a city despite having giant cities. BGN has bulbed sci meth I believe as he has a lot of gold. Dreylin has finished his GA and is on 5 cities too - very impressed by the Ghandi play here. Pindicator is yet to put anything down too... No idea who is in front at all. My score looks terrible but my expensive settlers will get that back up soon, and I have been whippping hard.

demos pretty poor.

Thing I am most annoyed about? Org is doing nothing for me!! Genghis definitely was the better IMP leader. Wish I had lost the toss for Julius now... Bah

Thinking over my play here, I'm looking at creating a similar situation to TBS in PB29 - behind it tech but land and MFG lead so hard to dislodge. Let's see what happens tongueopcorn

Actually the 0 civic upkeep doesn't mean you're getting nothing from org. It just means that every civic upkeep is under 2 gold (if it's 1,5 gold you get 50% off so you pay 0,75 which is rounded down to 0). So more precisely you're getting at most 5 gold from org.

So who are going to be your two chief rivals, and how will you make one insanely tilt at the other?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Well the way the map works there is limited engagement with 2 civs, then the NSEW neighboughs. I think Gaspar will be the first one to watch especially with the naval cities and him trying to hit from the fog. I need to chop the forest outside the city ASAP. I think I should be able to have decent relations with DZ who will be mostly concerned with Dreylin given the barb city being close to him.

NS I need to watch for BGN and his high mover water units and pindicator with the agg/chm promos. However both still don't have a built city so I feel the island chains between us shouldn't be hard for me to get a nice slice of too.

Chief rival I pip at Gaspar then BGN as I will try for all of the northern island.

Don't know how I can tilt anyone at others though!

Well it makes me feel a bit better I'm getting something! And with the mait costs sky high I might get some courthouses for the cities pre state property too.

A couple more turns and a lot of action! My expansion play has been rather mundane compared to others really...

So I now have Toby down for a total of 7 cities. I decided sharing the food was more important, especially as I only actually 'wasted' 1 grasshill tile and in the spot it is in now I gain a plains tile that would have otherwise been wasted. It also doesn't waste a forest and destroys a jungle. Only downside is that it does reduce watermill sites, but overall probably better. Toby will whip out a worker before starting an attempt on the SoL once I get copper mined (will be in borders for 2 workers to mine next turn). Not a serious attempt at the wonder, but I think it is powerful enough to try for, and if I get to a place where my first GP (due in 2 turns, a GE) can build it I think that this could be a nice earner on this map. Workers already pasturing the horse there.

I can get a rifle into James next turn and he will be able to whip the one he is building should he need to then also. Henry will whip the worker next turn - it has 165 hammers into the settler eot which is just enough to exactly whip the settler smile this will go to the site eastern to have sheep first ring deer second ring. Thomas will whip it's settler when able to go for the deer/whale site on the south of my area.

Edward is gonna pump a couple of workers to allow me to start to grow onto tiles, and Percy is just getting a theatre out for cheap culture after which it'll make another worker of it's own.

Making lots of hammers, but also costs are ever increasing with the city count rising. Still only 2 with a tech, both BGN and OT4E have sci meth and OT4E with communism too.

OT4E/Dreylin have made a nice play there... bow It seems a quick GA from taj to spam GP and then artist bulb communism and get a GP back in the form of a spy, and simultaneously nab the kremlin... With the amount that I am whipping they could really do something with this here. At the same time they have managed to take the barb city off DZ and so are on 5 cities. Overall well done. Also lovely for me as DZ will care less re my rather aggressive plant and focus more on OT4E. I might be able to make this work well. Not sure on OT4E keeping the city... I know settlers are expensive, but I doubt there will be much/any infra in that city now and it will probably be 1 or 2 pop. Maybe it is worth keeping though.

BGN/Scooter seem to have been building tall and no new cities for either of them. I think they should have expanded a little at least by now, no matter how developed they are and especially Scooter who hasn't got a tech yet either.

Pind has a city out and is bumping along like Gaspar. As I type this now I am getting paranoid of an invasion from either of them hitting me square at the cap... Ah well have to take some risks!

I'm gonna probably get a galleon out on the BGN sea after the settler to start thinking about that island. I want to smother the land with cities as fast as possible. I know I have more power than Gaspar so I am not concerned there or with DZ, so it is just navally I need to be cautious.

My demos. Not too shabby actually. Admittedly I haven't birthed 4(!) GP like OT4E/Dreylin, but still rather nice I think. Also thrid in soliders which is reassuring. I know Gaspar is below me and can safely assume OT4E/Dreylin are one of the 2 higher, so perhaps I am overthinking being boated.
