The final battle commences!
(Forgive the pro photo job!)
Aaaaaand I need to stop making predictions- I don't think I've made a correct one yet! My forces survived the first wave and generated a great general, Arminius. He was attached to a spearman while also sharing the tile with an archer (that road to the west made this possible without unstacking Eggnog Paradise's defenders). I have no axes, so I chose to make an uber archer to deal with attacking axes while a super spear should help handle a few horses.
Will Donovan continue the fight next turn?
He does not- Regentia still lives! He did build a road NE of Rooster Lake, so mounted units can still strike at the capital or any attempted tile improvements in the vicinity. His other units are pillaging my tiles- thank goodness for that fish resource (until the nets get torn up, anyway). It looks like I'm okay until catapults roll up to the city. Hopefully Icehazard's making good progress in the west. I don't foresee any offensive actions by Regentia in the future, so we're back to playing the waiting game. Maybe there'll be iron on the capital's tile...

According to PBSpy there were some good news, right? Would like to show us what exactly happened?

I am very late coming to this thread, but I'm loving the tone, the humour and the fighting spirit. I hope you're still having fun with this, and hope you'll be appearing again in RB PitBosses.
It may have looked easy, but that is because it was done correctly - Brian Moore

Thank you guys for the kind words and for reading. I admit I have not been feeling like updating for awhile, and perhaps as punishment, my laptop has hit some snags and isn't working at the moment, so my screenshots are temporarily lost from the last number of turns. I was able to acquire a plan B method of playing, and the show goes on.
Here's a repeat screenie from my very last update, just to remind people of cities as I describe what I lost in my screenshots:
The last we left Regentia, we had just repulsed another invasion attempt by Donovan, and were sitting quietly. I was able to snag Commodore's copper again, and slowly began rebuilding some metalmen. But through my espionage spending, I was able to note DZ's stack and Commodore's stack in and around the city underneath the unit list in the screenshot above. I figured it was now or never to try to retake Turtledove and my native copper source, as I'd rather lose trying this than losing in 30 turns sitting in my capital.
I lost three axes, but I did retake Turtledove! But Turtledove had suffered under Incan rule for so long that they resisted my liberation, and afterwards, my copper was... 93% Incan! My borders didn't extend south nor west of Turtledove! A library was ordered up to try to restore some culture, but the best way to reclaim my copper would be to take back Rooster Lake. And that was looking unlikely.
Until my espionage saw a giant stack of Icehazard's Keshiks outside the Incan city west of RegentMangrad! I borrowed Commodore's copper again to try and replenish my axes, and Icehazard made quick work of that city, and my espionage showed the stack moving to RegentMangrad! I was in danger of losing my two western cities to Mongolia!
I have my two workers ready to build a road on the horses so my stack can move next to Rooster Lake in one move. It's not my ideal stack, but I have to move fast, lest I miss my chance to liberate my cities.
Eep, Mongolia snagged RegentMangrad! Maybe he'll cede to me as a peaceful gesture... (I know, illegal in this setup). I move my army into position, and...
Rooster Lake flies the Regentian flag again! Commodore also razes an Incan city that I didn't know existed, planted on a sign I placed very early in the game as a potential city site.
And that was the last turn I played! I think I let Icehazard and Commodore finish off Donovan while I try to salvage something. Maybe a settler to claim that southern site? I think Icehazard and Commodore will rest to regroup after ending the Donovan campaign, so I might have some breathing room before they come after me. I'm hoping they'll target each other first before devouring little ol' Regentia.
Of course, I've had such a great prediction spree, I wouldn't be surprised if Donovan bounces back and eliminates me once and for all!

Who'd have thought two months ago that you might outlive Donovan, though? That's a definite possibility now - great job Helm's Deeping it so far!

+1
Btw, your last three pictures broke for me. Maybe for others, too?
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

I know, right? I thought for sure I was doomed to be the first one eliminated. Now Donovan could be exiting before me. We'll see what happens, of course, but if my annoying OCC to his east tied Donovan up and let the others have an easier time, well, for Regentia!
Opening up the next turn revealed an Incan spearman guarding a worker directly south of Rooster Lake, and an injured horse archer guarding TWO workers SE of him!
I capture the three workers with no losses, putting me up to five total. Maybe those were even native Regentian workers I lost early in the Incan-Regentian War... Of course, this would be all for naught if Donovan simply recaptured them next turn...
And Donovan does not! The workers begin their trek back to begin badly, badly overdue repairs in Regentia. Although note the city tag in the south- Commodore must have sensed my desire down there and already has a settler in place to found a new city. Probably for the best, though, since me founding a city there would do nothing but anger Commodore and hasten my already overdue exit. I think Icehazard has to take a breather to incorporate all of that land he took, whereas Commodore likely would have an easier time simply crossing the border and annexing Regentia since he has conquered less of Donovan than Icehazard has, or so I think.

Oh no. I moved onto Flickr for photos, since Photobucket had those huge watermarks and imageshack only let me have limited free time. Any others experiencing broken pictures?
