[NO PLAYERS] Lurkers thread for PBEM 17

With CMF taking over Australia, I wonder if he will realize he could settle half the continent while the other 2 fight it out? I am completely baffled by the lack of expansion on the continent with 3 players. There is probably room for a dozen cities between Australia and Nubia and a bunch more between Khmer and Australia. Even though Russia has been pushing expansion due to the high faith generation, CMF could make a play to do a heavy settler push and no one is going to be willing to declare on him because of the ridiculous production bonus.

I'm pretty sure that Archduke regrets insisting on NOT banning Australia. smile

I also wanted to ban Nan Madol and Hungry before it was cool. smile

Nan Madol and Australia are very similar because they both give you 2x stuff (nan madol should be +1 culture). That's dumb. This also fits in with the more obvious VA & Scythia. Maybe even the religious settlements Parthenon because it should give you a worker which is half a settler.

Hungry is a bit of a stretch but fits the pattern if you BS it; What pushed hungry over-the-top was their dumb synergy with the CS governor. That's worth a civ by itself so Hungry is two civs.

So I wanted to ban three different things before everyone else but that isn't super impressive because they are all the same (2x!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Okay, if I've read all the posts right, if Kaiser concedes then TBS wins.

It seems a bit extreme to specifically ask everyone if they are ready to concede.
I understand that everyone is pissed off with the speed rate, but only TAD specifically wrote that he was ready to concede (and more likely because being bored with the pace and not being motivated to find if he could stop Cree after (likely) losing his only 2 coastal cities before playing with his cossacks toys.
Calling the game off was a more likely natural exit, (or not)?

Right, I'm with Chev. Outrageously premature - it's not like TBS can really "convert" his really recent science advantage yet, only burn two Russian cities. TBS' navy is four ships and a fleet, ferchrissakes. I also think that TheArchduke and TBS have had some real tunnelvision on each other for the last several months, and it'd be d__n good for the game to last long enough for Chev or (less likely) Cornflakes to wake them up a little.

Let Australia and Russia hit their stride and compare the numbers before declaring themselves inadequate.

There were 3 person with chances to win TBS, TAD, CMF. from those TBS was the winner TAD wanted to resign. Only CMF had a good point for continuing and I did not read his post as "I want to concede" and I would not have called it without further confirmation from CMF that he is really ok with it.
But I really doubt anybody else than TBS could have won it.

I think TAD was just sick of playing this game due to turn issues & had lost interest long ago, losing his coast was just the straw that broke the camel's back. If he had still been engaged & had still been posting, he would have kept his lurker input, & would have maybe been wiling / encouraged to look for a diplomatic solution vis-a-via alliance with CMF and Cornflakes. Possibly he also would have been in a better position to resist TBS aggression since he might have completed Cossacks earlier.

Wait, we were on 2 continents?! There wasn't a sea passage passage to the south of my starting continent and TBS refused to give Open Borders so I never made any progress exploring to the west. I assumed that we were on a Pangaea. I was surprised that land ended to the west of TheArchduke putting TBS into an unenviable middleman position ... Within the last half dozen turns I researched Sailing and my scout started to make its way south by sea.
