Just a couple of questions sir:
Do we know who founded Judaism? Its likely to be Whosit's neighbour to the north or east... I'm loving the amount of map revealed each time Scout moves - but can we have resource bubbles on for the next shot please!
Which direction is our Woody II scout going?
What do we think Cynheard's scout sitting by our fish indicates? I'm concerned that it's preparing for a city plant. If he does I think we need to let it slide until he's built the infrastructure to build the culture to take the fish, then we burn it from the fog with Amphibious knights. Then see if he wants to try again
In the run up to the great scientist building the academy for Alfie how much cash can we build up? Enough to burn all the way through to Guilds? We need OR and HR by the end of the GA, but are any other techs vital?

Judaism, no idea really, maybe this guy who is bordering Whosit:
Based on color it will be dtay, Joey or Molach. So do we offer OBs to whoever that is and try to scout forward or do we head south/southeast after we have made contact? I'm not 100 % sure about trade route mechanics and whether that someone could get routes to us via CH's land. We have enough intercontinental routes for ourselves at the moment.

Actually, our Woody II scout is in fog-busting duties on our continent, where would you like it to be (it can move away it couple of turns)?
In north...
.. I think our galley will head NE and our scout pretty much directly north. Pindicator has now a settler under the chariot.

yeah, I like the plan. I guess it will be inevitable that either Cyneheard or pindicator will settle that coast. And there is no way we can block the tile E of rice with our culture. Moai will be completed soon and I hope that it will provide us enough culture to keep that fish still for a good while.
It seems Azza gave Mardoc a heavy blow:
Azza possibly lost some units as well, but soldier points from HBR maybe made the change net positive? I hope Mardoc comes quickly for a revenge, those fights went otherwise too well for Azza! We want to see both of them losing units!
Domestically we completed 2 workers, a settler and a lighthouse. I'm not anymore keeping our sandbox updated although I'm still following roughly my latest micro plan, which reaches almost to the start of our GA. This obviously might drop the quality of our micro, but I try to compensate by staring at our cities and workers (16 at the end of the turn) until my worse half protests too loud..

Very roughly:
T107: save gold
T108-110: Civil Service
T111: save gold (and maybe grab the last beakers of CS)
T112 (GA Starts): Polytheism
T113: save gold (finish Mono with overflow)
T114-117: save gold
T118: Monarchy (academy in place)
T119 (last turn of GA): ....
So we basically get to collect gold for 4 turns during the GA and if we assume a 50 % break-even, we will burn 1 turn worth of savings to get Monarchy. Probably our slider break-even rate will be higher in GA though and we will have enough gold for 4 turns of max research even after Monarchy, which is not enough for Guilds, but could get us MC+Construction+most of Feudalism.
Possible reasons for not saving gold:
- We want meditation+priesthood as well (we would get a pre-req bonus for Monarchy so this could be a sensible time to enable monasteries and temples). This requires running one turn of break-even research instead of saving gold.
- We want our own religion and grab theology. We should be able to get it with 2 turns of full research so I think we would be barely able to squeeze Poly+Mono+Monarchy+Theology before EOT118 and revolt into Christianity + civics during T119. I can't see a practical way of building a shrine so probably we are happy with Buddhism/Hinduism though..
- Construction for immediate militaristic needs
- MC for forges (probably after the GA is soon enough and we use our hammers for SAs and HAs?)

I'd say yes for Joey or Molach, dtay is doing a bit well, but scouting him out then closing borders would be a nice idea... I assume they'll all refuse though, so you'll probably end up going south after checking out that promontary to the north.

I thought he'd be handy ploughing through the jungle up north, but actually you're using Pindi's roads, so that's much more handy!

that you made it this far! Perhaps back to our old habit of playing the turn on chat and it taking three times longer...

Now this is the reason that I love being on a team with you - I don't need to do any thinking for myself!

Does the academy research bonus on Med + Priest outweigh the 20% on Monarchy? (I'd try to answer myself but its half midnight and I'm sure I'd be wrong...)

Naa, Taoism did nothing for us in PB13 - we should have just adopted someone else's religion and built an academy...

It can wait... If we need to build units in the mean time they can be HAs and Maces.

You got the wrong picture Fin. :Dogpile:
The border is dtay or Molach. GJ green is more clear. If I have to guess I'll said dtay.
Theo also open the AP, just saying.

Yeah, he was being handy in clearing the tundra from barbs as he was nearby

Ha! Looking forward to micro chatter! Although I assume that reading all the PB13 threads will take a good while first..

Pre-req bonus saves us ~60 beakers while having to run one turn or break-even research without academy during the GA costs us ~30 beakers (very roughly 60 commerce*1.5 from buro = 90 commerce * 50 % slider * 50 % multiplier * 1.2 pre-req bonus). So the difference is not huge, grabbing the pre-req bonus for monarchy wins slightly, but maybe we simply don't need those techs and want everything else a tiny bit more quickly? I have no strong opinion here either way.
Next turn will probably roll soon, but I won't be able to grab it before afternoon. I'll check the gmail-chat before playing

Turn 107
Two new contacs this turn. Retep was (once again) right and it was dtay in the east. I made contact and moved back, let's scout a bit more of Whosit's lands before offering OBs. And it was indeed dtay who founded Judaism as he built Temple of Solomon (visible in top5 city info).
MoM also fell (Joey or Dazed), I don't think we would have been able to beat this date without committing to Calendar earlier. We also met WilliamLP, his scout is in pindicator's "Comfort":
Dtay has respectable 16 cities, while William LP has 10. Our settler for 16th city is currently travelling..
This screenshot failed, but Cyneheard has 3 cats, 3 axes and 2 war chariots in that border city. Hopefully they are meant for pindicator (or Azza) and not us:
What do do with that WB?
Option 1: offer OBs to Azza to get through
Option 2: declare war to Azza to get through
Option 3: turn around
Hazelnut is the best example of abusing whip in anticipation of a SA:

Can you check in F4 if WilliamLP or Dtay have been in any wars with his neigbours?

Well done making it this far with a sandbox. That crap gets tedious!

Offer Azza OBs - I doubt it's worth declaring if he declines, perhaps offer 10/20 gold instead?
I presume dtay wouldn't benefit from OBs for a while, so I don't see a problem offering them. Perhaps while he can't see our scout? He's likely to be a similar threat to Pindicator so if he does accept OBs mapping his land early could be very useful. Speaking of which Mackoti's PB13 thread talks a lot about what an aggressive player Pindi is - something to beware of... Perhaps an Astro-Galleon amphibious strike against him might be in order?
I'd like to bulb Astro this game for the 20% extra beakers and surprise element - but I have a feeling that isn't compatible with an Economics bee-line?
Oh and keep an eye out for Pindicator having a boat to send a scout our way - we should be prepared to close borders before he gets too much info...
