Ok then, let's tell them they can have it for 10 turns starting on T110.

Do we want to open dialogue with Pirates? We could suggest OB. NAP is also possibility, but I'm not sure. It depends do we fear dogpile or losing opportunities more. If it seems we get a significant lead, it might be better to have them neutral and suggest NAP. In case they get attacked by stronger teams it would be better to have some room for opportunism i.e. not sign a NAP. At some pooint we'll probably share bordes through archipelago area and center of the continent.

What about M3. Our NAP is ending on T110. Should we suggest prolonging it? e.g. up to 130 or even longer? Clearly they're doing something wrong at the moment e.g. being way behind in the expansion race.

Gillette's NAP is ending on T115. IMO too early to start discussing lengthening it.

I wouldn't mind a longer NAP with M3. They are pretty close to circumnavigating BTW. They might well grab more than their fair share of the islands in between us. So maybe add a clause about negotiating a "sea split" and then prolong the NAP?

Not sure about the Pirates. I think they'll end up fighting TEAM. If we're really paranoid we could talk to TEAM and get a "no right of passage for foreign troops" clause. Just to make sure they don't sneak attack us out of TEAM's territory. Or just get a NAP with Pirates. smile

About Gillette:

They're settling their city W-SW of ivory in two turns, it looks like. Should we settle our own city here before the silks city? Don't want them to steal that corn.

More pictures from that front:

We could also let them settle closer to us in the south, and ask to settle on the marble instead, or maybe to grab that other corn.
If you know what I mean.

A city on the marble would be pretty sweet, with all those forests to chop. We would just need to make sure that M3 doesn't settle a spot to invalidate it.

Edit - I guess it's likely we'd have to pull it back 1E to satisfy Gillette anyway, and if so it's unlikely that M3 will invalidate it.

I also would like to get a change in our settling agreement instead of hurrying up ivory city. Ivory city near TEAM is way more important. What should I suggest? They can movethe city 1E and we settle the corn in the middle (might be hard to get through) and/or we'll settle on top of Marble or 1E of it and naturally can do whatever we like with the land north from there.

The deal is that they get to settle 1E, yes. They'll get the corn, and a much less pressured border down there.

In return I guess we could settle 1E or 1NE of the corn in the middle, but I have a feeling we'd end up putting that site off for some time, since it has no rivers and brings no new resources (that we can see; there could be iron in those hills). Still, I think I would be fine with this, as we could at least settle it at our leisure, and it looks slightly better than the ivory site. It's probably not a good deal from their point of view, though.

No matter what we do, a marble city of theirs on our side of the lake looks increasingly untenable. So I guess I'm genuinely open for suggestions from their side. But I think a pretty sensible solution is really that we settle on the marble. If/when they object to that (because we'll steal their sheep), we can agree to pull it 1E. That wouldn't even invalidate any cities on their side of the lake, if they really want to cram one in there next to M3. All they're really giving up is land on our side of the lake that would be very hard for them to settle anyway. We could promise to trade them marble, if that's an issue.

Also extend the NAP while we're at it, of course.

Chat with Old Harry:
Quote:me: hi

Gillette: Hi plako
Are you planning to leave any of the wonders in the demogame for the rest of us? wink

me: sry got interrupted
Wonder wink. We like'em

Gillette: You're pretty good at them too!

me: The point I'm here is that we've mapped the north and the areas near marble are hard for you to settle so what about changing our settlement deal so that you could settle 1E your southern city and we would be settling e.g. above marble?
Have you discussed about 3M about settling there?

Gillette: We haven't disscussed settling with M3, let me just find a pic of the area

me: It seems you've a worker in the south so I guess you're planning to settle there.
soon

Gillette: Yep, we're chopping what will be the city site into the settler atm
Would much rather stop that and settle 1e though.
What are you thinking of up north?

me: Are you ok us settling on top of marble?

Gillette: We're planning our marble city 1s of the marble - it's a crappy spot, but we do have some plans for the marble.

me: WE could make an agreement concerning marble
Prolong our NAP e.g. and gift it after settling the city.

Gillette: I'll need to have a chat with the team and see what they think, we'd be interested in a NAP extension, but probably not at the expense of a city.

me: We can continue with the current border deal and just prolong the NAP

Gillette: I'll have a chat with the team about Marble - like I said it's not an attractive location for us, but we don't want to be locked out of the middle of the map. In the mean time what sort of extension would you like for the NAP?

me: I've not given it much thought so I'm open for suggestions

Gillette: Also can you tell me how much culture Bloody Mary is producing? Just so we know how unattractive the marble city will be...
Not straight away of course...

me: 4 unless library culture has doubled, when it could be 6

Gillette: Okay thanks. I'll go ask the team.
