Ok so here's the situation, there are 3 chariots landed on the island, forking our cities, and one archer to defend. The galleys may or may not contain soldiers (probably the former). I still decided to send the archer to Signal Iduna because of the +50% from being on a hill. I'd rather lose one city than both.
The good news is, we can build war elephants as of next turn ! Christmas is two weeks early this year.
I asked team Dreylin to wait for you so you could take a look.

Ok not much I can really suggest there. I thought about whipping a scout in the northern city but I don't think it is worth it really. I expect us to lose both next turn. One chariot will cap the empty city and 2 plus what I assume will be a slow mover (sword?) in the galley should take our other city. Let's hope not though! I think suck it up though and just call it quits for peace. GJ is a much bigger priority.
Also re the scouts they can only see the tile they stand on now, so if we stand enough soldiers in MCG then we can put others elsewhere to hopefully hide our buildup

Oh yeah you're right about spies, I had forgotten about that. Should we add OB with the peace agreement ? GJ's power is worrying, and I don't see who he could be targetting besides us

So they had 3 shock axemen in the galleys, and the first one won a 7.3% battle, after a chariot retreated (not damaging our archer at all). Not that we could have held the city but still...
I'm surprised they didn't ask for peace. It would have been a sign that they don't want anything else than control over the island, which I can understand. Now I'm wondering if we should worry about our mainland ?
It makes me think about the moment we first saw Maryland, the colossus city. It was completely empty, and I wondered if we should just take our galley, put a warrior in it and raze it to the ground for kicks. Maybe we should have.
Whatever. I decided to propose peace anyway, it makes us look weak but we want that front secured for the next dozen turns.
We're now 2nd in power, only topped by... GermanJojo. What the hell ? Is this just the two of us deciding at the same time to strike at each other ? Possible. I hope we'll follow Hannibal's steps and have our elephants win the battles for us. I wasn't sure why Gavagai accepted to give us ivory, perhaps he knew what GJ was doing and wanted to give us a fighting chance. We have 4 cities building WEs currently because we can't be sure when Gavagai will stop sending ivory.
Last things, trouble is coming in the north, good thing there's an archer there now.
And I put research on MC, triremes will be needed if Dreylin refuses peace and forges will be helpful in production cities. What then ? Machinery ? Or filling up the religious part of the tree then monarchy and/or COL ? Our maintenance is ridiculous now with only 8 cities, so COL isn't a huge priority but if we actually win the GJ war we'll definitely need it. If only to access CS.

Just received this :
AdrienIer Wrote : I'd like REM to be able to access the game before you play, could you please wait till either he has logged in or we've reached the halfway point of the turn ? You're of course fully entitled to your turn half.
Thanks in advance.
Meant to reply to this yesterday; don't feel you have to rush to play in the first 12hrs. We've got a couple of play windows available and have no problems asking for pauses if needed.
This feels like it's an actual war instead of an island skirmish. What do they think they can get out of it ? They haven't put a single EP on us.

I think they just assume that we may want to fight for them back. Lets see what they do to the peace offer. I really don't mind too much about those islands. You're right, we can't do much in this game unless we topple GJ and Gavagi clearly wants to help us do so too. I don't think they can do much else to us

We'll start thinking about retaliations for the island when/if we clear out the GJ problem

Was greeted by this (offer accepted of course) :
I also sent an OB proposal. 3 whips this turn, for 3 WE next turn (or was it 2 WE and a hwacha ? Can't remember). With the new shiny WEs I think we can cut down on spearmen (but not entirely because elephants will be targeted by most units meaning you can take them down with siege and then use your cavalry to attack the infantry, while spearmen are so weak that they won't be targeted by anyone but cavalry till they're the last units on the tile). We sure need hwachas though.
Note that GJ is researching construction. I strongly suspect he's wanting to destroy us in the (very) near future. He's first in power, we're third soon to be second (maybe even first if he doesn't get any new guys out). When the war turns come I think I'll avoid logging in and let you do the turnplaying (and reporting, cause I'd love to have a lecture on good tactics). I hope you'll have enough time then.
PS : how about approximately 10 cats 7 axes 3-4 spears 8 WEs and 5-10 HAs for the attack ? HAs won't make a big difference in the beginning anyway because we'll have to crack the chokepoint with our 1-movers.

New turn so new post right ? Nothing new, our current military not needed for defense is 5 axes 3 spears 3 WEs 2 Hwachas. 2WEs due next turn, a Hwacha and another WE in construction.
Also, GJ What ???
He's overextended but he can afford it due to the cothon and the likely OBs he has with everyone. I think he founded it while I was in. He has a second source of iron in his territory yet unhooked, I almost want to ask him for it in the near future, he'll either think it's for a retaliation on Dreylin and accept (hilarious) or he'll do the most likely thing and refuse. Cos, you now, he's probably planning on attacking us.
I also noticed Gavagai has 2 ivories hooked up, and none in his resource screen. If he's sending it to both GJ and us it's hilarious. If it's someone else all the better.

Yeah I expect a GJ attack soon. He needs to clear us out before going for anyone else on the continent. He can happily expand up there with a solitary choke to defend vs us and now one vs Gavagi too... Ah well.
I really hope Gavagi isn't giving him eles. My plan of attack success relies on him having a lot of agg melee units... Gavagi will have to face whomever the victor is! Swords would be a nice addition but not hugely needed. We just need to whip things into a frenzy here. Our only chance.
Re the attack stack, no HAs. They should be built at the end. Essentially we need to decide what our last unit for the slow stack from soccer city will be, and change to HAs everywhere from then, except maybe a spear or 2 to stay back in MCG.
I shall have a lot more time soon, very few shifts now until the new year. I will log in soon actually and have a look at the whipping prep.
There isn't much tactically that we can do here sadly. There is a choke to break through. Whilst a raid with galleys might be daring I think hammers into units to smash through will be more well spent. I am relying on them having a decent amount of melee units. Hatcwa do not take collateral and as such any cata on our stack will not affect them, so he will get terrible odds with melee. However we need to prevent flank attacks with HAs on us for that to be useful.
We should use the galley we have to threaten his city north of the choke city, but other than that nothing else we can do except hope here.
