Civ 6 Release and Update Discussion Thread

I like the patch overall, now they really just need to fix specialists (and the AI, but I don't think they have it in them). Also Sullla, all the text in the post you just made appears black and unreadable to me.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

Without those gold exploits, the high production costs of [everything past the classical age] are going to pinch even more.

The good news is that Gold will be potentially valuable again.

The interface changes are a good step forward. Lux resources have a blue/purple background, strategic resources a red/orange background, and bonus resources a tan/yellow background.

Next tile, they color the whole thing solid purple when you go to the buy-tile selection... maybe some transparency, but better than it was.

This is good, but probably going to wait until next patch to play.

Fog of war is still really bad.
Still no icons for miscellaneous effects of techs.
They still can't be bothered to update turns-to-growth when you switch tiles, and stuff like that.
City screen is still less professional looking than the UI mod some dude made.
Now the tile buying screen shows you which tile comes next and how soon (but not on the turn you found the city, and you have to click into this particular view... ugh) but in the process it hides the actual contents of the tile in question. lol

Wish we had a schedule of planned patches and knew in advance when a patch is going to drop. There will always be hotfixes for newly discovered critical issues, but I see no reason to be so secretive about scheduled patches

The patch itself looks good on paper - a good first step at least

I think the working theory is they're still in the old school mindset of not being active with users on social media daily. I think they should but if they're a shut in development then I guess we have to live with that.

Bright side: This patch took 27 days after release to drop. The first Civ 5 patch took 81 days.

If past Civ games are any indicator, the real reason is because they don't know. I remember the word with Civ4 was that they shipped patches that then sat for weeks because 2K required a byzantine approval process that left Firaxis in the dark on when their patch would actually be released. And coming out and publicly blaming their publisher is a bad look, so they're sort of cornered.

Anyone know if there is any effect on saved games with this patch? I am guessing not, since it seems to mostly be UI and balance type things rather than stuff that might impact the save file. But better to ask.

Overall I am feeling positive about this patch and Firaxis' support so far. It is really good to see several of the biggest exploit/balance issue items addressed. And yay for naming cities -- one of my favorite things to do. lol While it would be nice to see more things taken care of, this is a solid effort tthat improves the game. Hopefully we will see more in the not too distant future.

The patchnotes say: "Adjusted AI victory condition focus to increase their competitiveness in Science and Tourism."

Any feedback on how this is playing out? I don't think I can face playing anymore Civ 6 until the AI is given a tweak.

Does not break save-games, though it can be a bit of a ride.  I have a cultural game I'm playing with France where Phillip upgraded all his warriors, peaced out the AI on the other side of the continent he was at war with, and then tried to come for me in the space of about 5 turns with all the units he had been streaming across the world.
