Pin, your numbers check out as far as I see, and 1.3 multiplier makes sense for 3 other teams knowing the tech. (100% + 20% + 3/9 * 30% = 1.3) Anyone know where this 1.31 came from?

From me ... I estimated it based on the tech progress bar and adjusting the tech rate. I know how long the bar is in pixels and beakers and used that ratio to convert the light green ('to be added') bar to beakers.

I, too, asked if it was correct and had it validated ...

OK, I believe the source is this post. In which case, lol at us for going with a Ruff estimate instead of just multiplying 3/9 by 0.3. lol

The tech needs 2880 beakers. We have 162 population so a Great Scientist will yield 1992 beakers. The green line is 448 pixels long (2880 beakers) so a line that is 1992 beakers is 310 pixels long (the red line). It also tells you where the cutoff is.

I dialed the tech rate up to 100% for the above screenshot.

"Well? What slider% makes us just barely touch the red line?" About 85% or 80% plus about 70 beakers.

More on this front ...
We have 85 beakers into PP. We need 2880 to finish it. A Great Scientist at our current population (164) gives us 1992. Each pop different is 3 beakers. So ... at the moment, we need 803 more beakers.

Looking at the tech progress bar, we are getting about a 1.31 raw beaker multiplier into PP. Each 10% on the slider gives us about 72 raw beakers (or 94.3 beakers into PP).

So ... for 803, we need to run the slider at 85.1%. 80% will give us 758 and leave us 45 tech / 34 raw beakers short. We are currently putting in 7 raw beakers at 0% and we do this for another 2 turns (T157 to T158 - excluding the critical T159). So, on T159, we need to generate 20 raw beakers and have a T160 population of 164 (or more).

Check: 85 (current) + 7 * 1.31 (T157) + 7 * 1.31 (T158) + 578 * 1.31 (T159 at 80%) + 20 * 1.31 (T159 extra) + 1992 (GS Bulb) = 2878 (2 beakers short).

All of this depends on our T160 population, getting a Great Scientist and our current tech percentage (80% gives 578 raw beakers).

I'll keep updating these numbers through T158 and T159. We also should bulb the GS before we whip or draft anywhere.

What are the plans if we don't get a GS?

I was using 1.31 because i erroneously calculated 3/8 instead of 3/9 smoke

Myself, I used the canned routine in the C&D sheet. However, that implies that the game thinks the Spanish are still in the game (9 teams alive, instead of 8). I thought the known tech bonus was from the number of active teams/civs?

I'm pretty sure known tech bonus does not increase when teams are eliminated.

We can test this very soon smile

Agreed - that was Civ III behavior where it did increase.

Ok, the C&D sheet now has the figures entered, and they compute out perfectly with the 8 known civs.

598 reported GNP
564 upper left numbers + 1 magic beaker
213 culture
7 espionage
273 gold (yes, the gold from WPC gets included)
-635 in expenses

I get 740b and a GNP of 598 with 8 alive civs. I get 734b and a GNP of 592 with 9 civs. Either one should be sufficient, though the latter just barely (2b to spare!).
