[SPOILERS - NO PLAYERS] The Final Clusterfuck: The PB38 Map and Lurker Thread

By his own admission mackoti has Astronomy. He's had it for quite some time though.
No information, if he stuck with one city on the new continent or if there are several others now.

On tech fron as i said i have astro from some time(I think i got it after TBS) ,engineering got the GA so I can eventualy bomb a front with naufrgrar or tbs depends were is needed. [...]

Thank you Mardoc for the fantastic update on the state of the game. I've only been following the last month or two and that was a very nice and detailed read to get up to speed!

So...Mack goes Lib to Economics, triggers a GA, techs Chemistry, and blockades the northern subcontinent with frigates whilst he rolls over the weakened players to the SW, forcing a concession.

Glad you enjoyed it!  It's been an awesome game to lurk. If you want to go back and read the history directly, I'd recommend picking a pentagon and reading just those threads at once.

I think we're getting into a phase where people interact over greater distances but it hasn't happened much yet.

Pretty sure that's his plan, and it will probably work.  I thought Rusten + naufrager would be able to derail mack, but that was apparently over optimistic.

TBS and FinHarry both have long-shot chances.  About the only scenario I could see mack losing would be if someone with Astro decides to commit to total naval war before Mack gets too far ahead on naval tech to win that fight with fewer ports.  They'd have to go so far as to burn all his ports, though, and they'd probably have to have already started staging a force, and probably that just throws the game to the Astro-person who's not involved.  So I don't expect to see it happen.

The real problem is that no one is keeping up with Mack on tech, which just keeps giving him more and more options.  Plus of course the dogpile problem...it seems more likely that TBS gets invaded by Pindilewwyn or Commodore than that they fight alongside him.

Still should have fun watching what people do while Mack puts this to bed.  Commodore and FinHarry and Pindicator can all ignore mack for a while and do cool things.

Oh man, a three-way Lib race, where Pinwyn think they are chasing and denying TBS, whilst TBS has already forfeited thinking mack is unreachable... This game just keeps giving.

Something I think TBS needs to be challenged on: why hasn't he tried to scout the area north of Mack, never mind settle some of it?

That's a pretty leading question though.

After the game, not now. But it does explore thought process and internal biases.

Yes...Mack wins more because he always seems to invest his resources in the right areas at the right time than anything else. His micro is great I am sure but there are plenty of players that can make that boast.

I've always been interested in how mackoti does this: understanding what your opponent is doing is a huge challenge and he seems to be the best at it, by far.

But also at relentlessly focusing on the macro too.

Would greatly reduce his tension with Old Harry and Commodore if he ceded them some land and invested in grabbing Mack's potential instead.  Keeping Mack off the Astro-land seems to be the only war that he might be able to win to trim Mack back, too. No way he can hit mack on the mainland.

So...yeah, I think that would improve his odds of winning.
