The Gauntlet - courthouse after granary chop?

I still like the GG in our draft camp. We'll get an additional promotion/unit/turn 13/15 turns? That's pretty awesome. If it were combat 1 on a rifle instead of a musket, I assume you'd be ok with that? Are we certain to get another GG by the time we get to Rifling? No, and I hope we don't, unless we should manage to scrape one out finishing off the Germans.

To that end, I'd like to use as many cats as we can without endangering our supply, so keep running cats in as long as we can, even after the German stack is thoroughly thrashed, unless the risk continues to be very high to our cats. I'd consider going for this, even at the expense of using another mace or so in cracking a particularly tough defender, just to get as many GG points stored as possible so that we can eventually get another GG settled in our HE city.

Astan finished its National Epic on T157, and it's documented in the C&D thread.

I also can't agree that CFC had better land than us. Yeah, they had more flood plains, but we had more luxury resources that we could grab within a decent distance. CFC had no easy way to grab gems or spices, like we did relatively early on. As for CivPlayers, I think they expanded decently - they just happened to be between the two teams that really focused on early horizontal expansion.

A vote for settling the GG in starfall.

Obviously we need workers to lay down roads in this area. We only have one worker in the area right now, the one we captured on the pigs hill tile last turn. There are two more up in the tundra (taken with Medic 3 chariot last turn), two more inside Wittenberge, and one more down to the southwest that we can pull up here for next turn. What I want to do is move our big one-mover stack and the one worker we have in this area (on the pigs hill tile) into the desert this turn. Any of the white X tiles is viable; we can pick the best spot once we see a WPC screenshot, hopefully. We'd like to have our big army in a position where it can't get hit by the remaining German catapults as they move forward. That said, we do have to move forward a tile this turn so that we're within 3 tiles of Huron River to attack next turn.

From the screenshots sent to us by WPC, tere are two stacks (one in the city, and one directly east of the city). The stack in the city has 6 catapults (3 full str) but they cannot hit us. There are 3 2-movers in the city and 1 worker. The others are 1-movers.

The stack east of the city has 1 full str catapult and 2 workers. They can road a grassland tile and hit stack on one of the desert tiles if they want to. This stack has 8 WE (3 below half str, 8 full str, others about 6.9 str) and 3 injured horse archers.

I don't think they will counter-attack with those units.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Remember that we can also effectively spend coast tiles in Gourmet Menu on the Seven Tribes whip. I like the general idea of easing off the whip somewhat to keep cottages being worked, especially now that printing press is in, but in this particular area, we have tiles to burn.

Depending on how the food surplus works out, I think I like a courthouse whip, spending the plains farm and both coast tiles from GM, keeping the plains cottage, shuffling tiles as necessary. I think this will produce overflow that nearly completes the market as well, if I'm not mistaken.

Agree with not drafting Starfall this turn.

Mansa's Muse: drop a cottage shared with Focal Point, pick up a cottage shared with Forbidden Fruit

Focal Point: pick up the cottage vacated by MM, drop plains farm

Forbidden Fruit: pick up the unworked grass cottage

Gourmet Menu: Pick up the plains cottage dropped by Seven Tribes.

Tree Huggers: I'm not sure I want to whip this city at all. It has decent production, and we can put down plenty more cottages. It also has enough commerce that the market is at least as valuable as the courthouse right now, even at 50% science. We need to set 1-2 workers to clear out the remaining jungle and cottage the tiles.

Seven Tribes: Whip the market, not the courthouse. Drop a plains cottage and the plains farm.

The Covenant / Simple Life: Whip one of the cities next turn, not both.

Starfall: Do NOT draft this turn. If we draft this turn we don't be able to draft a musket next turn.

The scout in Apolyton land wasn't moved last turn, I think. Send it to the plans hill WNW of Istanbul, to get visibility on Apolyton's city there.

I agree with all of this. Please don't whip Mansa's Muse especially.

Let's shoot for Livestreaming the military moves tonight at 6pm EST (3.5 hours from this post). That will at least give everyone in Europe a shot at watching before it gets too late. We can finish up with the city micro stuff afterwards, there's no compelling need to end our turn tonight. Link again: http://www.twitch.tv/rbciv/

Alright, let's do this. Going to fire up the stream in a minute or two. Since not even one person jumped in to suggest that we raze the German tundra city instead of keeping it, we won't be doing that either. hammer
