For the second turn in a row GermanJojo logged in right after I played, and we're second in the turn split. I'm pretty sure (like 99.99% sure) that it's just out of curiosity for the moves we made but I was toying with the idea of sending him a PM about it. I mean he was quick to accuse us of double moving him during the scouting wars because we did something similar. I'm not sure what I should do about it. So I'd like some lurker help on the matter (I don't want to make it bigger than it is, it's probably nothing).

I only meant save the war ele promos in case he hit - as the promos provide healing. Not sure with the hatchwa. I would promote individually and air on the side of barrage... Depends how much the odds change.
Not too sure either what to say re the logging in... I'm as new to pitboss as you. It's not like he hasn't seen our stack though so I can't see him gaining any info. He knows we were gonna go to that hill like!
We asked mardoc if he minded Fintourist looking around after he played in pb18 so that we could coordinate and play our turn faster when it came. I don't think it gave us any advantage (unlike looking in before your turn when you are second), but its a bit rude not to ask.
So depending on how much his double move accusation annoyed you either ask him not to log in or ask him to confirm he's not changing builds and moving stuff or ask if its okay for you to log in before he plays...

Ok so we've been hit by 12 catapults then almost destroyed by a whole lot of numids.
I put research on machinery but it might be better to go with Feudalism, I think we should retreat everything to MCG and start pumping defenses in our back lines.
Ah well. We had to try. With hindsight we should have done this a while ago. I got too engaged in trying to claim all those islands and the South of that big island. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.
It isn't as bad as I thought it would be from the hit. I'm really impressed with the amount of production they have been able to churn out tbf. We aren't gonna take it, you're right. Luckily we have 2 ha left. If we burn the mine and the road we can retreat and not be hit again. And then I guess we can bunker down. We can get longbows if you want or settle for some iron and go for crossbows/pikes via eng. What are you feeling?
I actually pillaged the mine and road before leaving (for 14g), I put research on machinery but it could equally go towards monarchy->feudalism. Monarchy through monotheism leaves us the possibility of using a turn of anarchy for OR/HR, significantly rising our happy cap in some cities. then the longbows come in and I'm pretty sure GJ has used most of his cats on our stack meaning that we have a bit of time before he can get them back together. Their production is indeed impressive ; we're most likely headed for utter defeat and probably even being the first to go, and that's partly due to GJ's very solid play so far.
I'll finish the turn right now, putting research on mono I really want to fight to the death, I don't want it said that GJ won this because we yielded our land to him too easily, better even I'd like for him to lose the game in the end because he couldn't conquer us fast enough. He seems like a nice fellow but he's our enemy there so no quarter.

Notice that it's in this most dire moment that we finally reach the mark of 300 in score. Gawdzak's almost at twice that amount...
Something we need to discuss here, apparently they're not too keen on attacking us.
Should we use this break to rebuild a bit and tech to feudalism ? Our economy would improve a lot (we could probably double all our current demos by going full eco right now), and we could even found some cities in the north, or attack Dreylin with our HAs, at least for the island. Edit : of course I don't expect this to be real peace, they'll just annihilate us in 10 turns, but at least it gives us time to rebuild a bit.
While waiting for your answer I've played with the resource deals we currently have, starting with this :
I saw no reason to refuse that, so ok. Therefore I canceled this one. And proposed this : Our workers had nothing to do, due to our small land, so I started operation naval flexibility. With those two forts we'll be able to send our ships south to damage GJ's capital if we want. So pros and cons of GJ's peace, we could use that peace to regrow our cities a bit, maybe get in a few forges, and tech to feudalism to be mostly safe till knights. There are a few cons, first we can definitely defend against a numid attack this turn, sending our ~7 new HAs to the stack tile, and then defending in MCG will be rather easy with no catapults left in their stack. Although I suspect that they won't go for a direct attack, but rather pillage stuff around and look for an opening, forking cities and stuff. Also we have a galley currently ready to pillage GJ's clam N of 3ChordDork and with operation naval flexibility our trireme could go south and blockade GJ's cap. |
