PB75: Superdeath forced to play

Thx!

I checked in game by getting vision on his city.. a c1 axe or c1 praet gets damn near 99.8% win vs fully fortified warrior. BUT dont worry, im sure ill lose 1.

Gavagai declared war on myself, and Dreylin. He also sent me 2 peace offerings. I HAD to check if he had declared war on Ricky, before sending a peace deal back. I dont want to have no opportunity to strike Gavagai's units while we both conquer him.

In other news, Nauf accepted my crab/crab +open borders deal. So hopefully that front stays peaceful. Im planning on possibly sending him a Gems + war with GT followed by a gift of gems. Not set in stone on it, but might get me some good will so i can continue going south thru Ricky and the low city count +buddhism capital of Gavagai.

Is there some way to calculate gold from captures/razes? Or is it roughly a random number?

Question for lurkers: Mechanics question (i think, so should be able to answer) I dont yet have an actual sea route defogged to Nauf's cities. We have trade routes. I dont have sailing. If i got sailing (without having the defogged) would i get the extra income from his cities? Do i just need defogged to get it?

Trying to decide if it makes more sense to detour to sailing now, for a faster currency.. or if it wouldnt be worth the hassle. I mainly ask because checking the demos, im in last place for trade at -16. If i read that right, im giving away 16commerce to someone else? Which, id believe to be Nauf's 8 cities at 2c each?

Superdeath, if you just want to calculate 1 vs. 1 unit battles, then you would be better off using Cyneheard's Combat Calculator, attached to this replay. I have used it for years. It tells you a breakdown of how much health each unit is likely to have when the battle is over, and it can easily account for the CtH changes. I would link to the place on the forum I downloaded it from originally, but I can't remember where that was.

Capture gold: see THIS POST on CivFanatics. It's by T-Hawk, so you know it's good.

Trade routes: Iiam.

In principle you need a defogged tradeable route; roads on lands or coast/ocean (after astronomy) from your city to the target. However, tiles that are culturally claimed by a power you are not at war with are considered to be defogged. This means you (usually) only need to defog a tile to their borders. If you'll allow a demonstration from PB66:

We have a sea route to Pi-Ramesses which is connected to his horses, but don't have a trade connection to him, which should mean the horses aren't connected to his core for whatever reason.

What we didn't know at the time, is that the reason we didn't have trade is that Alexandria (and it's horse) was connected to the core by un-fogged coast and road.

So in order to get trade we needed to either unfog the tile 2S of Alexandria or complete the sea-route to Thebes' river.

That remains the other question, and most important one. DO I, need sailing for coastal trade route with nauf. I assume so, but i wanna make sure before i swap over/complete the scouting

Thanks! smile

Also i want to have noted i didnt move a single unit/do anything differently this turn that i logged into, as i saw Rickey was logged in AS i was loading in. (i plan on declaring this turn) I didnt really gain any advantage that i can think of that i wouldnt have seen last turn. So.. im waiting for him to finish his turn, as im sure declaring on someone mid-turn is a bit wacky. ALSO, cuz 2 others were logged in and i dont want questions being asked in chat that i have to be snide about. tongue

Went in. Plan is the axe will eat a quechua, probably promote to heal, then eat another one. Praet will go where the workers are currently. Getting vision on his clams city will help determine if i bypass it, and let my follow up praets grab it. With no copper/horse... i feel dirty doing this. Guy hasnt posted (nor anyone in his thread) since mid february. Maybe ill get lucky and he wont delete those workers, and i can capture them for more worker labor down here... cuz man, it needs some improvements.

Not a whole lot going on, but updated pics! :D total praets being built, unless i see movement from Nauf or Gavagai will be around 6-7.

Right?

Flawless victory vs the first warrior. Gained enough xp to grab two promos.. Probably going to raze this city, and keep the one on the left. Re-settle when my economy is in slightly better shape, i also have some mild filler closer to home that wont destroy me on maintenance. Cant wait for courthouses.

For all practical reasones, yes. Sailing is needed for waterways outside your borders to carry trade.

You could also fill the entire coast with your culture, or build a road, or other silly stuff.
