Scouted my land, is now stacked with the settler

I would've preferred to settle this without a war, but my own settler is in position to plant the iron city next turn, and the only way to ensure it gets settled without delay was to declare. Otherwise if Scooter chose to ignore diplo messages (or didn't understand them), it would've caused a delay. Honestly, I'm surprised Tarkeel chose the continue with this city, with just warrior as a defender, even knowing the lay of the land, and knowing I had the axe in the area. Maybe he was just following instructions given in advance; maybe Scooter doesn't have IW, and doesn't know why I'm willing to go to war over this dispute. But don't think I had a choice here

Of course, this could backfire, if Scooter has a chariot in the area

Actually after sleeping on it, I wonder if it was better to let Scooter settle the city, then take it, so that it counts towards city elim. Maybe he would've backed out of it anyway upon seeing my settler, and knowing that the price of losing a baby city is much higher in this game. Was it enough benefit to accept delaying my own city?

On the other hand, giving him an extra turn to bring in another defender if he decided to go ahead with the settle probably wasn't a great idea. But I did forget about city elim rules when I decided to declare

Scooter did pull back the settler and sent a cease fire proposal. I sent back a white peace pffer, but will take a cease fire if he declines

Settled 2 cities this turn

I guess Scooter's planned city was going to take the corn and the pig - cities with 2 food resources are a luxury on this map, that's probably why he was pushing for this spot, despite it being so far from his land

Meanwhile I've been playing around with the dotmap in the jungle, here's an ambitious plan I could attempt

First need to ensure my economy would support it, and research Calendar, since this plan heavily relies on bananas for food. Plus connect more luxuries, so that cities aren't stuck in a permanent 4->2 whipping cycle

Probably still need Feudalism for safety first though? Especially if I do want Vassalage, I would probably have to revolt via anarchy, would rather do it sooner than later. Undecided so far, still have 4 turns until Monarchy

Scooter insisted on a cease fire rather than a peace treaty. He also settled in a way which will claim the pigs for him

Looks like this is going to be a big point of tension. With this in mind, I'm moving the archer from Cologne to Frankfurt, so that I don't just lose the city to a random chariot. Meanwhile my own chariot is going to go take a look at Scooter's new city and if he got a better defender than a warrior. Also going to whip a sword in Berlin once iron is connected, and overflow into another chariot

Well guys, if Scooter doesn't reinforce his city, we may be going back to war next turn

I did offer a peace treaty.... and his city is still annoying for me..... it's not me being bloodthirsty, it's just business

I'll be honest, I'm surprised Scooter goes for an advanced city, which clearly is going to deny me a food resource thanks to him being creative, defends it just by a warrior, and declines a peace treety. Does he just rely on my reputation of hesitating to go to war? But a city like this would be a consideration for me to do my best to capture/raze even in a normal game, let alone a 3-city-elim

A chariot vs a warrior in a city on a hill with 5% fortification bonus has 76% odds. It wouldn't be a slamdunk in a normal game. In 3-city-elim, I will definitely take these odds. So I hope for his sake he does have another defender

Ok Scooter, you made your point

Going to get every culture-producing building in Frankfurt (monastery, library, monument, chop/whip-assisted) and see if I can compete with creative culture

Still going for a sword whip in Berlin (can't set up an axe double-whip), and putting a turn into a spear in Cologne, so that I have a whip available in case something goes wrong

100% feel like I need to go Feudalism next

By the way, right now there's a risk of Scooter wrecking me. He moves the archer on the forested hill SE of the current position, sees Cologne empty, takes 50/50 on my chariot (which I pulled back to cover the worker), and if he wins, that's two chariots threatening Cologne next turn, which will be defended by a single spear. So that's almost guaranteed me losing a worker, and if he wins the 50/50, it puts the city in danger

We'll see if he goes for it
