FFH II PBEM III Tech issues thread

Quote:I hope this works. I have no idea what went wrong with the PBEM save I created, or why it would not open when you can open the single player save.
Maybe its because you set an admin password?

Here's a header from the save you sent ( I got it off the tracker )

seems to have an asset lock, version check and hell lot of other fluff

And here's a header from PBEM II, no admin password.

A bit of difference difference and probably the reason as well.

My guess is that zombie fix doesn't go past asset lock check as checksums are compared against unedited patch 'o'.

Incidentaly this gives me an idea for password problems in pbem 4 to check when I go home.

WarriorKnight Wrote:Thanks for that. Quick question though, how do you convert the text that you sent me into a worldbuilder save?

Very odd. The WB save should have been an attachment to the email. huh

Still, WB saves are essentially just text files. Try adding the "CivBeyondSwordWBSave" extension to the file, which should change the file type to the proper WB save. I will also try re-sending the WB save using a different mail program, in case something weird is going on there.

I actually received about 5000 lines of text. No file was attached.

OK, I managed to load the save without an admin password and we can start rolling. Will play and send shortly. jive

Very odd. huh Anyway, I have sent several mails -- WB attached using a different mailer, WB zipped, and a PBEM save with no admin password (as per Mist's post).

Maybe one of them will work? banghead

Good news at last! lol

Good luck to all the players! And remember, please check your starting techs, starting units, etc. on the first turn. If anything looks wrong or weird, we can correct it before going too far.

Irgy's up.

Major thanks to haphazard1 for making the map and Mist for the tracker. thumbsup

A note from PBEM II experience in anticipation of problems.

Civ doesn't handle overwriting PBEM saves. Because next turn's save will be called the same ( turn 0 and turn 1 in ffh are both treated as AD-0001 ) remember to go into saves/pbem folder and rename/remove the file there. Otherwise on next turn it'll ask for other people passwords and other such sheningans. See our tech thread for a crash course :]

Great, a start already smile Good work everyone, sorting out all those technical issues. I'm at my parents' place with no civ, but I'll be home to play within my allocated time slot at least.

EDIT - PS I have at least received the email, so that part's working.

So we've started? jive

Looking forward to this. Good luck to everyone.

Thanks to haphazard and Mist for helping us out with the map and technical issues.
