Damn ... this is typical survival-attitude : to made/have fun from desperate situation ( this is the best translation which I can provide for romanian expression : "a face haz de necaz" ). :P

Received the save ... open it and ... miracle ! he didn't attacked !

OK - the game slowed down these days so it's probably a good moment to present ( without picutures yet ) the situation and think to some sort of strategy to get out of this mess ...

- Nicolae throw in my teritory a "pillage-group" of 3 axemans + 1 spearman for coverage. Also another pressure-group is fortifying in the forests near Aurita ... while another small group pillaged my gold this turn.
- I had research-view on Nicolae last turns : he studied Archery and is now studying Masonry ( probably finished it yet ). More likely Construction will be his next target.
- The good news is that I'll complete Construction also at EoT next turn ... so I could build few cats ... in order to resist against his units.
- Another good news is that I obtained a Great General - so I'll be able to spit shock-promoted axemans from my capital from next turn ... maybe I'll be able to counter his "pillage-group" in the next 2-3 turns ...
- My skirmish with GingerEagle continue ... hope that I'll disturb him enough with my limited forces ...

Finally a good news !

I trained in the last turns 2 more units in the capital and, together with defending units, they managed to wipe-out completely the "pillage-group" of Nicolae - with surprisingly low losses.

There remains the north front which is hot and will be even more in next rounds ...

BTW - I micromanaged and get Construction at EoT, don't be confused by 2-turns displayed in the upper side of screen.

This battle was really ... interesting.

First I took my chance and attacked his ( unpromoted ) chariot with mine - because that bastard could became dangerous for my little group of axemans produced from capital without spearman to cover them. 50% odds ... and I won.
After this sacrificed an axeman into his main "pillaging-group" ... but I noticed that his shock-axeman remain at only 0,5 health so ... I decided for an aggresive approach and attacked with two axemans which both won at ~30-35% odds !

Inspired by such victories I put my medic-spearman at risk and launched a spearman on spearman ( 50% odds ) attack ... and won again !
After this my defending archer mop-up his wounded axeman ... to complete a really gooood battle and punishment for the pillage of my village !

The only problem may be that now - considering the "compensatory-hazard" mechanism of Civ4-combat - he may take his chance into an attempt against my Jewish-Holy-city in North !

If no ... I plan to move my victorious axemans there and ( together with one or two rushed-catapults ) to try to counter his advance in the area. Or maybe he will propose peace this turn ...

Sareln didn't get/play the save in the "morning-timeframe" so probably the next move will be delayed until tomorrow morning ( for me ) ... hope that he will take a look at Nicolae's power graph & relationship status !

The situation in the North became really critical : Nicolae bring there his first catapult ( when/how the hell did he research Construction so fast ??? ) - and another one is waiting in the border-city.

As a response I massed there my victorious troops from Garofita ( except - of course - the defending archer ) and rushed - at 2 pop ! - a catapult too. Another catapult was produced in my capital and was moved to frontline too ...

On other hand - my economy & research is in "survival-mode" : -1 gold at 0% and the only beakers come from hired scientists ... hope that I'll recover after few turns.

Still no spread of Judaism from the Holy City ( which is the one under siege ).

Let's see what will happen next ... as I passed the save further to GingerEagle.

Well ... time for a ( short & just text ) update.

Don't know exactely how ( probably using 3 workers which completed a road in the same turn ) Nicolae attacked my small stack from south and ... killed both Jaguars and hero-chariot without any loss. Did I mention before the "compensatory hazard" mechanism ? Now that was a good example of it ...

Strange is that after this victory ... he offered peace to me.
Well - I accepted it, but I don't get his overall strategy - maybe he intend to gather more catapults and to re-open the siege after 10-turns ...

Played two more turns ... nothing really special to report :
- my skirmirsh with GingerEagle continue in the East ( with good results I'd say : managed to block alot of his units there with limited forces ! );
- tried to close the budget-deficit ( damn ! is hard to do this even in a game !! ) and I'm at +2 at 0% science;
- rushed another library and hired 2 more scientists in the Western-border city ( now I have 4 in total - and another library is planned to be partial chopped/partial whipped ). This give me ... sort of research ...

What make me mad is the fact that Judaism don't spread to any city yet !!

As another ( short ) report :

- After looong wait the Judaism spreads to another of my city and a rabbi was whipped from Holy City to spread the religion in to capital ( this will happen in the next 2 turns ).
- Completed another library and hired one more scientist - now I have 5 in total ... which will allow me to creep towards Currency ( 4 more turns );
- the war between Nicolae and Sareln is still ongoing - the big question is now : is this a "real" war or just a border-skirmirsh ?
No Great General emerged in the last turns - so no big battle took place but I'll need to check also the power-graph of Nicolae next turn because ... next turn will be the last turn of peace between us.

This is for the moment ...
