Allright so after deliberation, I think Joao is the perfect civ. However I think the likelyhood of Joao being picked by Smack is nil(I think they take lizzie), very low with the H's (I think they might take vicky or pericles) and while high with RMOG I think they take Sury over Joao. Leaving us Joao.
But England has redcoats which could be damn useful since the time when real war might erupt would be around then. England will be taken if we don't. I think England, Rome and Vikings will all go before we pick again. Leaving us the dutch or carthage. SO I think England becomes our pick for now.

Um, speaking as a comparative noob, is there a reason behind NA?

Techs?
More importantly RMOG went ghandi for a pairing of Huyana and Ghandi. MIDSMIDSMIDSMIDS anyone?

That's gotta be all about the starting techs. Their first civ was Korea, which is Mysticism & Mining. So Native America gives them Fishing & Agriculture.
Dunno, though, I would have done the Dutch instead (also Fishing/Ag).

Smac gets lizzie and also picks off rome. Winner winner chicken dinner. Looking good for a joao, vicky, sury showdown.

We're cleared for Joao or Vicky, then. Counter for Sury? He's excellent, but Creative doesn't do much for Darius at all.

I think we absolutely need an EXP leader so sury is starting to edge above Vicky for me. Additionally Sury as a techer with cheap Libs is nothing to sneeze at. Early Academy as well. So with Darius as gold feeder sury actually does well as a techer, IMO.
Personally I think the pick is between Joao and Sury.

Yeah, Sury would be Darius-as-a-funder - at least initially - as Darius expands he will probably produce way more commerce than Sury will need for expenses.
Joao would feed Darius-as-a-techer.

Of the two, I guess I prefer Darius-as-techer, so Joao. I'm actually coming to like thought of Joao. We can vote him whenever, I guess, once the HHHH team gets Wang Kon or whatever.

Okay, so it looks like we're ending up with:
Darius of HRE 4-1
Joao of England 4-2
