I just would so much rather be the guy getting to Construction / Civil Service / Guilds a few turns before everyone else, rather than the other way around. Financial is just so good in a NTT game it's practically broken compared to everything else. I don't think you'll find any top level player here (myself most definitely nowhere near that category) who disagrees.

I think it's a lot better, but I wouldn't quite go that far: don't forget that you can get to techs a few turns before everyone else in other ways too. For example, if I'm Isabella, I am saving at least 1T on revolts towards any tech compared to any non-Spiritual civ, and by getting out my Worker faster I get out my cities and chop my Granaries faster, which causes me to grow faster and work cottages faster and so on. The financial civ needs to place each of his cities so that whatever workable tiles to get the city up must be in the first 9 tiles, usually forcing him to settle for an inferior city placement compared to a Creative civ, and in addition he must waste 30 hammers (Be they from the whip that could go to something else or not) per city to build a Monument, in addition to the cost of Libraries (By getting the Library out quicker, you can work 2 Scientists quicker to get more beakers in that time, which also pumps out your Great Scientist earlier which gives +50% science quicker...)

I would say financial is the best trait in the game no question, but I am not sure it means Vicky is better than, say, Isabella, and why Wang Kon is a trap when it's "all other financials banned". I'd also say you need to keep in mind synergies sometime (Vicky's lack of culture is harmful because her cities are going to be much more useless and her lack of Expansive means she will have trouble properly providing Workers and Granaries for them, hence why Cathy is preferred and Joao II of Inca is the best Imperialistic combo).

But I also might just be talking out of my desire to just say fuck monuments. lol Then again, I'm fighting for the users...I mean, for Isabella too.

Do we want Isabella or a Creative civ? I don't really feel like playing Vicky, even if she is a better choice TBH.

I probably lean toward Expansive over Creative as being a more powerful trait with more things going for it... You save 30 hammers in a city either way, though Creative works a lot faster. But not all cities need a border pop quickly and overlapping dotmaps can be more powerful anyway.

I'd obviously take Victoria here!

Decided to go with Isabella, since I didn't feel like playing Vicky and I didn't feel like utilizing the other Creative leaders here would work (Would have probably picked Bismarck or Louis XIV if Bismarck had not gone as Ind #2).

Seems fair enough. With 20/20 hindsight, it may have been better to take Zara first, but this way you'll get a strong opening game at least.

Yeah, it may have been, but Isabella is fine too, I am mostly just going to hate myself for needing to research Mysticism and build Monuments, heh.
