I'm in the same boat; as of 20161010, RB 1.8 Classic seems to be using 2/3 of the screen for the menu, 1/3 for the useful bit.  The other 1.8 themes express the same issue,

Also, in the new theme, the "whatever_name" link href 404's trying to connect to ucp.php.

I'm also finding the location of the avatars attached to posts a bit awkward, as the presence/absence of those images causes the post_author cell to move around, which makes it difficult to scan the page looking for an author.

It's slow as a rotting carcass, sorry, I switched back. The top bar showing discord with more highlighting is good, but that's all the positiveness I have, and I guess the quote (reply to post), multi-quote buttons are a bit more intuitive for those who don't have an extended knowledge of pictograms.

Any idea what takes up extra time? Win10/Opera is my config if it helps.

So I already switched the screen that RuffHi talked about, is there a different one that is similar?

usercp.php works, is there a link pointing to ucp.php?

And the avatars are the same as before, same with the author name as far as I know.... picture showing the difference?

Sorry to hear it's slow! so far I'm seeing similar load times on all pages in both the new and the old theme. I'll keep working to make the new themes and website in general as fast as possible.

This is the one I'm landing on.

Yes, in the UL tag with class=usermenu

This page looks fine to me, not seeing that abnormal large menu you're mentioning. Try clearing your cache?

So, when I click that link, it opens a menu with more choices. Instead it takes you directly to that underlying link? What device and browser are you using?

It's not a changed behavior; at least, the "RB Classic (OLD)" has the same spacing issue.  However, it's not as hard to find the author name without the avatar in the old style.  Something about the colors, I think -- the black bars in the older theme make it easier to find the author name.

Ah -- sorry.  If you hover over the link, you may see that it is pointing to ucp.php.  If you invoke the context menu on it (to open in a new tab), you get 404ed.

Doesn't help.  It looks like a screen width issue.  If I resize the width of my screen, the "Thread Subscriptions" maintain a fixed width, but the menu expands to fill the extra space.

That is to say, "Thread Subscriptions" is right justified and fixed width, where "Menu" is left justified and variable width.  So on a wide display, the menu toggle buttons are way off to the right (beyond the centered "1.8 New Theme Input" title).

In RB Classic (OLD), the menu is static, and the thread subscriptions resize with the window.

Love the new theme Brick and I'm seeing pretty good performance with the upgrade.

I am however getting a problem on /forums/usercp.php and forums/usercp.php?action=subscriptions. It sounded like Ruff and Voice might be having similar trouble, and clearing my cache and ctrl+F5 hasn't sorted it out:

They look good in the classic theme:

But then the list of threads are compressed and hard to follow in v1.8:
