Patch notes for 'Fall 2016' update have been released

Why not just have all ais with tons of bonuses declare war on the player the moment they meet?

Hey, I did that in AW and even then, it was a walk in the park on emperor, surely it wouldn't be so bad on immortal too, provided you survive the initial 50 turns

If humans see that a city is at 5 health, they'll attack it quickly before its too late. The AI can't see it, and will be distracted by anything it would ordinarily be distracted by. Move a unit out of the city a turn before its captured, and its rather likely that all of the enemy units will decide to chase after that unit. You buy a turn, get some city health back, find some reinforcements, and the war is won."

Which is quite similar to the AI-stringing along you could do in Civ3. There the AI would go after an undefended city first so you could easily make the AI dance for you until you could crush it. I don't think they ever patched it.
Looks like there is nobody on the team that knew Civ3 or remembers the lesson learned there.

I don't think any experience from pre Civ5 days remains at Firaxis, so they are left to re-invent the wheel and re-learn hard lessons already known, only with a game that is vastly more complicated than "build and expand with simple integers" the series began with.

Well they can just buy Civ3, play it, and learn from its mistakes. Even if they have no copies left themselves, it's on sale for a buck right now

Surely those working on Civ6, especially those in a position to make decisions about the game, will have played the previous games?   smoke

I would legitimately prefer this to the current late game.

Well, I found out, that steam sells cities: skylines for a mere US$6. When you can buy the better city builder, why go for a beta Civ6, when you can have the far superior alternative,

I can't help but feel like this thread has gotten to be a tiny bit of a circlejerk of late.

You should look at the Civ5 thread buddy! mischief

I'm pretty sure that this game doesn't have the 'level 2 difficulty bug' which would make this games Deity into Civ5's Emperor.

There's only so much the AI can cheat before it makes the game into a farce so it's better to just let Deity be what it is.
