Zalson Plays One Turn At A Time (DEITY: Loss)

(November 9th, 2017, 10:30)T-hawk Wrote: IIRC, barb cities appear when the total number of player cities >= 3N + 1 where N is the number of players. Deity AIs reach that quickly of course.

Well, that sucks. That means that 2 AIs have 4 cities.

Okay, so I'm shifting the plan a bit.

Tech path: AH > BW > masonry > mysticism

Build path: settle +4 cities ASAP (2 fish cities, pigs city, sheep city)

Third city goes on the pigs spot. Build order there goes: granary, lighthouse, great lighthouse. I'll probably which the granary into the lighthouse, then the lighthouse into the GLH. I may squeeze a barracks in there to allow my 2-pop whip phalanxes into the GLH.

The other cities (1st ring fish, sheep, 2nd ring fish) come shortly after. Once i get granaries up, it's going to be the 2-pop phalanx whip show. Once I get 8 phalanxes, I'll ... rush the barb city.

Gosh that's depressing.

Sparta goes to size 3. Continues working the warrior because I am an idiot who panics. Switching over to a granary. The plan will be to grow to size 4: whip a worker. overflow into granary.

I finally get that archer to kill itself.

And there are horses north of Sparta. Hooray.

BW due in 8.

Horses, very nice. smile Between the plains cow and plains horses Sparta will have some useful hammers.

Finish the cows at Sparta. the next worker turns will be spent moving down toward the pigs.

T26
Workers road.

There is not a lot going on right now. Frickin' barb city. But I get graphs on Gilgamesh next turn!

T27: Workers move south to connect ... Corinth to my empire.

T28:
Settler out of Athens. overflow into a warrior (followed by the granary). It heads south, accompanied by 2 workers to get the pigs up and running. It'll start on a granary next turn.

The workers will improve the pigs T29 and T30 and then will help me chop a forest into the granary at Athens. Once athens gets to size 4, I'll get it 50% full and 2x whip a worker.

Similar deal at Sparta, except the overflow will hopefully complete the granary -- and allow me to start putting hammers into a lighthouse, leading to the great lighthouse. Going to go with Sparta first because it's a little bit more developed.

Corinth will get the pigs and will ... grow to size 2 on the granary and probably try to whip the granary at 4 pop into a barracks. then start cranking axes.

T29: Meet Corinth -- and a view of my empire (complete with MP in my two cities).

I need more workers and more cities and more units. Hooray.

The pasture completes at Corinth and the warrior is completed at Sparta. So now everyone's working on granaries!

Athens will grow to size 4 in 1 turn but I can also get bronzeworking in 1T with some micro between Sparta and Athens. So I'll do that. Then the workers will chop ... something next turn.

After BW, it's time to start to start Masonry if I want a chance at the Great Lighthouse (which I very much do). I'll drop the Lighthouse in Sparta... I guess? I think it might want a monument before that, which means I should put it in Corinth...

So I need more settlers, more workers, more infra and more units. Not a tall order. Any suggestions? What can I show that will help the peanut gallery?

Grassland pigs, always a great tile. smile Corinth should grow rapidly.

With BW about to complete, what are your plans (if any) for slavery? Also, what do your finances look like? Costs on Deity can be very tough.

I’ll take some demographics shots tomorrow. It’s either -7 or -9 and +25.

The real MVP is crop yield: i think it’s at 35 and closest rival is 23 smile

So, EVERY time I end up wondering where I should go next, my train commute frees up and I can spend some time noodling.

So here's the plan for the next 5 turns. I need to double-check it (via my simulator).

Athens
30: 26/26 @ +8 food, 7/60 granary @ +1 hammers, workers finish pigs
31: REVOLT TO SLAVERY, workers move to chop tile
32: 0/28 @ +6 food, 7/60 hammers @ +7 hammers (copper mine), workers chop
33: 6/28 @ +6 food, 14/60 hammers @ +7, chop goes to Corinth, worker moves 1n to chop
34: 12/28 @ +6 food, 21/60 hammers @ +7, chop, worker moves 1 n to chop
35: 18/28 @ +6 food, whip to 18/24, 88/60 hammers in granary @ +7 , chop, road into Athens
36: 18/24 @ +0 food, 35/100 into settler + 11 + 20 hammers (66/100), workers chop into athens, cottage
37: 18/24 @ +8 food, 2/50 hammer into barracks @+1 , workers cottage, cottage (pick up farm)

I revised this. Earlier, I was going for a worker but I think I need another settler to keep pace with AIs. This'll allow me to get it out, I think, by T41ish.

Sparta
30: 3/28 @ +5 food, 4/60 granary @ +8 hammers
31: REVOLT TO SLAVERY
32: 8/28 @ +5 food, 12/60 hammers @ +4 hammers,
33: 13/28 @ +5 food, 16/60 hammers @ +4, chop goes to Corinth,
34: 18/28 @ +5 food - whip to 18/24 at +5 food, 80/60 hammers @ +4,
35: 23/24 @ +5 food, 24/30 hammers in monument +4 hammers
36: 28/24 @ +5 food, 28/30 +4 hammers
37: 13/26 @ +0 food, 32/30 +4 hammers (pick up cottage)

Corinth
30: 3/22 @ +6 food, 2/60 granary
31: REVOLT TO SLAVERY
32: 9/22 @ +6 food, 3/60 hammers @ +1 hammers,
33: 15/22 @ +6 food, 4/60 hammers @ +21, chop goes to Corinth,
34: 21/22 @ +6 food, 25/60 hammers +1
35: 27/22 @ +6 food, 26/60 hammers +1
36: 5/24 @ +6 food, 27/60 hammers +1 (pick up lake)
37: 11/24 @ +4 food, 28/60 hammers +7 S (switch to copper mine)

I'm going to mysticism before lighthouse because, once I chop the trees, I'll have no cultural option for Sparta until the lighthouse comes out.

Mysticism should come on T34.
