[NO PLAYERS] Which DLC Civ is Most OP? (PBEM6 Lurking Thread)

@ Azoth

Thanks for the literal vote of confidence at the start of the game.

@ Oledavy, Woden

When did I become the Montezuma of the CIV VI PBEMs. I always had a very valid reason to go to war.

Maybe you are right though I tell myself that I picked Macedonia for the DLC experience over Russia (which would have been WAY better for this map).
But maybe I am just that bloodthirsty.wink

@ Ituralde

At the time, I did not know how far away. Yeah, only my southern neighbour was a realistic target.

@ shallow thought

I disagree heavily. Without GGs or GAs defenses would be unbreakable except for huge tech advantage (one era at least).

The whole system of combat is imo very nicely designed and rewards tactics, planning and use of terrain with the GG and GA being the levers to offset defenders advantage.

@ Sullla

As always, nice analysis. Though concerning if that attack should not have worked. A better player then I should have easily seen your naval invasion in PBEM #1 coming and defended against it. So that attack "should" not have worked either. I think the +100% production and long downtime of aggression (intentionally on my part) augmented suboptimal´s poor preparation.

Looking back at the evidence, I find it difficult to defend my original position. In PBEM 1, the early GG was only one part in Sullla's plan - city placement and a naval invasion were also important, amongst other things. In PBEM 4, the GA monster lost. Also - unlike wonders - if you miss out on one GG/A, it puts you in pole position for the next one. So, yeah, keep playing until people who actually play the games complain.

Well, yes, of course that would never work now against more experienced opponents, any more than the insane Pink Dot play in the Apolyton Demogame would have worked against a team other than the Templars. I launched that attack in PBEM1 specifically because Civ6 Multiplayer was new and it wasn't something the other players would be expecting. There's no way I would try something that reckless against you (or anyone else) after close to a year of experience.

By the way, nothing in this thread was intended as a criticism of your performance in this game. Macedonia is a one-trick rush civ and you made it work beautifully here. Really, really well done from start to finish. goodjob
