Broken for me as well.

Imgur kinda sucks, but it is free and it does not have watermarks.

Hello, old friend! Sorry things had to turn out the way they did, but at least you outlasted me. smile

Nice job in keeping your capital from me too. You always seemed to be one step ahead, with the Archery timing and the Great General. That GG move killed me, and the sad thing was I had 4 more Horchers that I didn't bring that turn. Still kicking myself, as those could have taken some other spears out and the promos allowed you to reinforce fast.

Funny how you were talking about diplo games at the start of the thread. That was how I ended up at Realms, by taking over for the Apolyton team about 10 years ago in their own hosted game where RB took part. Just winded up here because I like the way the games are set up. I haven't played a diplo since and likely wouldn't have the time for it anyway considering my dismal posting rate over the last 3-4 games.

Anyway, hope you stick around and play again! I'll have to say they really didn't do you any favors re: the land. Having to cross mountains for a shot at your sole luxury was pretty rough....

I re-uploaded some of the old update pictures, let me know if y'all can see them now. I had to switch over to IMG to get it to work- I was having no luck with the screenshot tags, so I apologize if this distorts the thread too much.

Anyways, the eternal war between Donovan and myself has finally come to an end. We signed a peace treaty:

I had no serious prospects in advancing further into Incan territory, so I decided to call it a day. I ultimately lost one city after it was all said and done, but to be down to my pillaged capital with +3 angry faces due to whipping, and now back to three cities is a pretty decent recovery. Granted, I had two other civs doing the heavy lifting; I have no doubts Donovan would have eliminated me if it were a pure 1v1 situation. But Regentia is still here!

And on the next turn...

toast  Donovan! It was certainly a hard-fought game for both of us.

And Regentia's still here... but for how long? Look at that stack Commodore has outside the borders of Rooster Lake. He has a axe to the NW of Rooster Lake that just went through my territory. I can't really answer catapults. Horse archers would be nice, but I decided to go for monarchy and hereditary rule because I thought I'd be doing OCC action for the rest of the game. Could this sweet sound of peace be over before it even started?  scared

Very good game Donovan! I'm glad to have been able to run into an old friend so soon after poking my head into a PitBoss again. I'll be sure to accept your offer of a team next time- lest you punish me for declining again next game! lol

I wish I could say I planned out the archery tech and great general, but both were the results of "just one of those things." I realized I had only warriors to defend after I lost my copper, so I switched over to archery. And that battle just happened to give me a great general. That little road outside Eggnog Paradise let me customize the XP boost between two units without risk, so that might have been the big moment in that situation.

I knew those western cities of mine would be a source of friction between us, but I didn't have much room, save another city to the south that I had my eye on. Perhaps our war was meant to be. I have no doubt you would have prevailed in a 1v1, but I was able to hold on just long enough to let the big dogs have their way with you. Now I'll likely be next to join you! jive

Commodore's stack was gone the next turn, but the stack in (former! shakehead ) RegentMangrad is even scarier:

Icehazard also had a unit moving around (now south of Rooster Lake) my territory. Perhaps I should have cancelled open borders with those two once the Incan War finished up. There isn't much I can do against that stack should Icehazard continue his rampage east.

I think the screenshot tells the story as well as I can.

It's the beginning of the end. While I can make things bloody in Eggnog Paradise, unless Icehazard gets invaded in turn, Regentia will be exiting soon. I can't defend two cities, so I left the archers in Turtledove and moved the rest towards the capital. It'll be ruinous to lose my copper, but it'll also be ruinous to lose Eggnog Paradise and only have flatland Turtledove to defend. I'm hoping to get both deer tiles chopped to make Icehazard miss out on the free shield every turn- nice and petty of me! lol

Ain't that the truth! lol

Look what awaited me when I logged in:

Aw, thanks buddy! Again, I know Superdeath is only doing this to help slow down Icehazard for his own personal gain, but, again, I'll take it! Until Eggnog Paradise gets blocked by sea, I can keep building spears. Looks like Superdeath is taking on the role of Commodore this time around. Now, if only they both could launch their own invasions of Icehazard! mischief

Anyhow, Icehazard took a turn to rest up his Keshik stack. It took a little bit of a beating, losing two Keshiks to a spear and an axe, with the others losing some HP in the attack. Hopefully, Eggnog Paradise, with its hill and two great general XP defenders, can put up a messier fight. Of course, once catapults show up, the gig will be up. Until then, with some Superdeath copper (I'm not going to build any chariots, but will head to horseback riding next), Regentia will resist to the last man! whip

Gavagai stumbled upon Regentia, so we exchanged open borders. Of course, he'll probably scout me out and launch his own invasion! lol

Icehazard made his move. Turtledove only has two archers on defense, so Icehazard might snipe the city while he bombards Eggnog Paradise.

Icehazard's two catapults begin their siege. Three Keshiks and two more catapults are en route to reinforce the death stack.
