Hi guys!
With this damn pandemic I bought Civ 6 and found it surprisingly good - even still not comparable with Civ 4 BTS
Anyway, I remember this old forum and I want to give a try to a PBEM.
Please provide me a link with "house rules" and/or accepted convention.
Best regards,
Ioan
P.S. : I have the version with disasters...

Hi Ioan76, I think we do not want to have space for more players as right now we want a fastpaced PBEM. I am pretty sure the possibility for one more PBEM on this forum does exist however.
I can also highly recommend dedlurking on of the players here.
Anyway, a quick overview on the preferences by Woden, Ichabod and me. Suboptimal do chime in please.
Mapmaker:
Cornflakes
Players:
Woden
Ichabod
Suboptimal
TheArchduke
Dedlurkers:
Chevalier
Alhambram
Ioan?
Did I miss someone? Are we 4?
Ichabod, how about Poland and Norway?
Could you elaborate what makes your three choices bad?
Scotland I could get behind. I do not see the Ottomans, which are definetly not that bad. Siege weapons can be strong in their hands. The Khmer can play a good food/religious game imo.
I do not think Macedonia has any takers, maybe I am wrong there. I do think that their predictability is an issue.
Woden, on France I do not think Catherine is as bad, thanks to the +3 CS she has thanks to spying.
We do have a consensus on 9 civs atm. With 1 more we can have a choice of 2 for 5 players, or with 3 more, a choice of 3 for 4 players.

Poland and Norway aren’t great either, so it’s fine. Macedon is not weak, IMO. I just skimmed the civs, there wasn’t a lot of thought behind. Scotland felt very weak, but perhaps I am underestimating something.

Here's my bottom 12 list:
Canada
England/Eleanor
France/Eleanor
France/Catherine
Georgia
Kongo
Mali
Norway (on Pangea/Continents)
Ottomans
Phoenicia
Spain
Sweden
Regarding Archduke's comments, Macedonia may be predictable but Macedonia is very good at what they are built for. As for Poland I think the modified policy slot is a bigger advantage than is being given credit for. I put Mali on this list as while they can be pretty good in SP I don't know that they're fast enough for an MP game. I think you guys also see something about Brazil that I'm missing, I don't think they're bottom 12 material.

I'll need to get up to speed on Civ 6 mapmaking I haven't used Worldbuilder since it was officially released. Woden, I think you've mentioned in the past that modifying a randomly-generated map breaks the rivers or floodplains?

Yes, modifying rivers in a randomly generated map tends to break the flooding of rivers. I think just adding rivers and floodplains might work but don't remember. It is easy to tell, because the chance for floods in the climate screen will be 0% if they are broken.
The past few maps that I have created were "recreations" of maps. I would find a map I liked and then create a custom map from scratch. The tools can place luxuries randomly, so it really doesn't take that long to build a map form scratch.

I summarized the lists. There are 8 civs that everybody had and 2 that were on 3 lists. To get to 12 civs, we will need to chose 2 from Poland, France, and Ottomans.
Norway (4)
Phoenicia (4)
Eleanore (France or England) (4)
Sweden (4)
Kongo (4)
Spain (4)
Georgia (4)
Canada (4)
Brazil (3)
Egypt (3)
Poland (2)
Ottoman (2)
France (2)
Macedonia (1)
Khmer (1)
Scotland (1)
Mali (1)
We have 4 players now, do we want to add a fifth?

Macedonia is a one trick pony, but is really good at that trick and that trick happens to be war. Don't really like the possibility of seeing them in a game of the worst civs.
I could be wrong about France, I don't really use spies that much. I would say they are not the worst civ but lower tier than many others.

I prefer 5 players to 4, but either works. Perhaps we ask for the lurkers to revise and make a final list for the civs?

The flooding issue was fixed between the starts for PBEM 15 and 17, I believe in the September 2019 update. It's not perfect but I recall they addressed it.
