Werewolf 3 Game Thread

So it's down to Novice, Jkaen, and PB for me. Any of the three seem like pretty attractive suspects. I've read the other arguments and I'm not getting the other theories fully, but the theories against these three make sense to me. Considering the way things are stacking up, I'll keep my vote on Novice.
You can get a look at a t-bone by looking up the bulls ass but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.

Ichabod:
Thanks for the thought-provoking post. You raise some interesting points. I'm even more curious to see what Selrahc has to say. It should be interesting in the next 12 hours.

Mr. Nice Guy:
Care to elaborate at all on your thoughts, considering how you're the one with the least amount of posts here? I understand work has been exceptionally busy, but if it's possible for you to provide a little more understanding of your thoughts to the rest of us it would be greatly appreciated.

Man, I am still sifting. So far I'm still on pocketbeetle though. I'm not convinced by any arguments so far.

I'm curious about ichabod's argument on selrahc I find that very interesting. I think its possible for it to be true or false. Especially since I think he's a WW. His post could be easily manufactured. None of it is real proof, all of it is simply his perspective on Selrahc's comments. None of it is damning and I could do a similar post that simply vindicated Selrahc using the same quoted posts because its all subjective commentary by Ichabod. I will read it again when I have time though. Busy again today. This evening is clear though.

TTFN!

Regarding my suspicion for novice and Roland's counter arguments:
Roland Wrote:I can't speak for novice, but I can say that thus far you've struck me as very much a Villager. Maybe he just feels the same way, and is willing to risk a gamble on tying himself to you in order to bring down someone he feels is a 'Wolf?

I have no problem if people see me as a villager and then support me. But the way he linked himself to me didn't feel natural at all. Why is he trying so hard to get us two linked?

Roland Wrote:That is an interesting theory, in all honesty, but it's still predicated on the idea that the only reason novice would say such a thing is if he's a 'Wolf - which, in my opinion, is rather flimsy. I think it can equally be said that he's just a Villager who agrees with you.
Roland Wrote:Also, I don't think a smart 'Wolf would be so bold as to blatantly tie himself with someone like that.

Again, I'm not drawing these ideas because he agreed with me and thinks me as a villager. It's the way he tries to link us. I was the one who was blinded by scooter on WW2, so it would make sense to try the same tactic here. After all, it was likely that I might not question this at all and just be happy that someone agrees with me and thinks me as a villager. I think the linkage was not that blatant as you say, and I wonder if anyone would have paid much attention to it unless I had pointed it out. I think people would have paid attention only once one of us would possibly be killed later on.

Roland Wrote:I don't see how defending MJW is so blatantly 'Wolfish that it can't be explained equally by being a Villager. <snip>
So, again, what point are you trying to make here?

It's not. Actually I was also quite sure that MJW was a villager. So as a separate thing this does not mean that much, but when added to my other points, it adds up. I say again, it was in wolves best interests to let MJW live, _if_ Cull is a villager. I don't know if he is, but I think it's quite likely. So I do view MJW defenders with suspicion, as long as Cull isn't identified as a wolf.
Roland Wrote:You know, anytime someone writes something like "The Seer should protect this person," or "The Baner should protect this person," I just instantly write that post off. It's pointless in and of itself, and to try and draw the conclusion that someone is a 'Wolf from such statements is equally pointless.

We have quite a lot of new players, who might fall to this trick if they are the Baner. So I don't see these comments pointless, if a wolf would say them. If they come from a villager, I agree that they are pointless.

Ichabod Wrote:I cannot deny, though, that the fact that Selrahc is an experienced Mafia player, an active poster in this community and a very smart guy contributed to my conclusion. It's a metagame thing, but I cannot avoid it.

Can I just say, that this sort of thing is not metagaming. It technically has some of the elements of it, but werewolf is all about picking up changes in people's personalities, and if there's a change then you need a reference point. It does bring "out of game" factors into the game in a way, but until people start changing their behaviour in real life to make themselves less suspicious in future werewolf games or something like that it's not really doing so in a problematic way. It's completely different from things which rely on technology and specific mechanics of the forums and so on.

Anyway, back on topic; Do you have a summary of your reasons Ichabod? Not so much because I'm struggling to read through all of that, but because when I do it's all a scattering of this and that with no real theme to it that I can discern. My point is, if you can summarise it, that would help clarify your thinking, and if you can't summarise it effectively then I think that highlights a problem with it.

I think I have a more general comment to make: The sorts of mischeif that people are accusing the wolves of are often strategies far more complex and involved than anyone actually playing a wolf would follow. A lot of people's wolf-strategy is to just act like a villager and do their best to pretend they don't know who the wolves are at all. A large proportion of the sorts of things people are being accused of simply don't apply to anyone following that strategy.

Of course I admit if that strategy is performed flawlessly then it's almost undetectable, so what's the use of even accounting for it? But in reality it is actually quite hard to perform flawlessly. My point is that it's failures in that strategy we should likely be looking for, rather than the high levels of mischeif that some people are imagining. Though don't stop entirely, because as soon as we stop looking for mischeif it becomes something they can get away with.

I fall so far behind, half the thouhgts I have about players are no longer relevant.

I don't see much evidence on anyone yet just a bunch of wild speclation.

I might had one too many beers for his stuff to make sense, but damn does roland talk a bunch. Prattle prattle prattle.

I stil Leywwn seem guilt. Only real evidence we have is his weird vote switch. But noone else votes for him.

Also, too many complaints about meta. We got wolfies to ctch. I don't care how.

I dont know if Ochabid is right, but I respect the effort. [COLOR="DarkRed"]Selrach

If I were a wolf, would I really draw attention to myself by
a) Campaigning for Mayor
b) Cast the deciding vote in the final minute of day 1 to lynch one villager (or wolf) over another?

Ok, I didn't word this correctly. The linkage was blatant, but I don't think people would have paid much attention to it, until one of us would be possibly killed later.
