Commando Mechs off the line? Those can be pretty powerful, as I learned to my dismay

Only Commando if you have AGG's C1 in the first place. Because you need C4 to unlock Commando, and that's already 17xp.
I wish I'd gotten a chance to mass produce Commando units
Mass commandos would be ridiculously powerful even if they weren't mechs. We'd steam roll over Commodore with Fighters + commandos. But yeah, we'd need 26 exp for that. Munro was Charismatic, remember. 17 exp gives March though which is still pretty awesome.

Hmm, looks like a C2 Fighter would remove 24 HP from a fortified Machine Gun with no culture or hill defense. 20% chance of interception. So we'd need about 2.4 Fighters per Machine Gun, so about 5 Fighters for every 2 Machine Guns. More Fighters for bombardment if needed. Maybe we should build some Carriers?

Played turn 153.
I think this is the last turn of the treaty. Unit signs are now largely obsolete: Our power is surging ahead but I don't think we have enough to attack Commodore yet. So this buildup will probably continue for a while. Although if we could find a way to reasonably attack before he can finish his own industrial buildup then that would make sense. Hmm...

Anyway, if you want to know something, ask. Otherwise we're going to keep churning out lots of "We built a lot of stuff, doo-dah, doo-dah" reports until there's a concession. This. How do you see this thing going south, if such a thing were still possible, doo-dah, doo-dah?
So yeah I've played a couple turns since the last report but I'm having a hard time motivating myself to actually report the turn.
Basically right now our big question is what exactly should we be doing? Should we build a bunch of units and assume it will be enough to kill Commodore? Should we be like Krill in PBEM 4 and tech to Modern Armor to ensure victory? (Krill was much further ahead when he chose to do that, IMO.) Should we assume tanks and bombers will be enough and do a mixed tech/build until then? We're basically doing the third but I'm having my doubts. As a side note BK is now producing 39 * 3 = 117 hammers a turn (and this will go up by another 10 base hammers) which is way too much to build anything without wasting hammers, so I put it on Wealth until we get a wonder to build. Funny that... Also, does Air Sweep only engage air units that are intercepting? Can I Air Sweep out airships and bombers and kill them?

me: hey you should look at our save
and tell me what's the best way to kill commodore Lewwyn: is your save up? me: i sent it to you last turn i played Lewwyn: k lemme see did you update your last turn was like 3 dyas me: i sort of updated we only played 2 turns because mist disappeared and the turn was unplayed for 2 days Lewwyn: hmmm tanks basically build tanks like whoa then 2 move kusari and callix on 1st turn of war with air support, either airship or whatever you got then I try to 2move zoe and samdamn from Daves territory with OB but yeah I go tanks asap no flight until after that and churn churn churn tanks me: well i told gaspar we need tanks but he's like RADIOOOOOOOOOO i think fighters are good too tho Lewwyn: heres the thing a tank army is going to take longer to produce than an army of fighter/bombers it doesn't take that many airplanes to do the dmg but you need a ton more tanks so tech tanks first and build them while teching to airplane me: i calculated we actually need Lewwyn: then work in a coulple planes after me: two fighters for every machine gun to get it down to 50% now maybe we only need one hit per machine gun and that's good enough if we have tanks but i think we definitely need max fighters in all border cities and also to fill up any nearby forts Lewwyn: well gaspars right about bombers they are OP but if you don't have the 2 move land units to back it up me: yeah Lewwyn: then its pointless me: that's what i said Lewwyn: so tanks first build tanks while teching to bombers me: i think gaspar is just too concerned with commodore building cristo redentor when he doesn't even have physics right now Lewwyn: build four bombers and that'll be enough to kill kusari first war turn me: anyway we only put a few beakers into flight so we can switch not a big deal and obviously we'll need flight anyways Lewwyn: you need electricity for radio anyway so get electricity first>industrialism>flight>radio oh and commodore has 3 galley there that he'll upgrade to transports me: well he can't upgrade them next turn there is a reason why i blocked the tile with the destroyer Lewwyn: yep me: i am concerned about that too though because we cannot get enough destroyers in the area for a while if he builds destroyers in all those port cities anyway we could upgrade the ironclad if things get dire i don't think commodore will have gold to upgrade his galleys until at least turn after next transports are 6 move so he could hit hc but not anything behind it well his transports are 6 move Lewwyn: you trying to pop a GM for the 4th gp me: we're trying to pop something that's not what we have like an engineer problem is the cap is next pop atm and very low chance of engy/spy/merchant there

Gaspar played a turn earlier today. Right before he did that we argued over the tech path and basically Gaspar got tired so we're probably going to tech Electricity->Industrialism next. Of course then Gaspar then exacted his revenge by accusing me of being afraid of Commodore over and over.

She started to scream, was it something I said?
So yeah, I've been pretty distracted from the game of late. Between me really being infinitely less interested because there's really no way for us to lose this at this point, working lots of long and late hours and this girl who won't leave me alone, Noble's been making most of the decisions lately. He must be doing much better without me holding him back, eh Krill? :oldwink: Anyway, the major decision of the turn was whether or not to press on for Flight or switch gears to Electricity > Industrialism. We argued a bit and I just don't care enough so we researched Electricity. Noble mentioned last turn that he's building Wealth in our Ironworks city because he doesn't want to waste hammers. This is definitely an example of the sort of thing he thinks of that I would never think of. While I probably have more of a natural proclivity for Wealth builds than he does, I would absolutely have built all of the moderately useful buildings here and then just churned out units when there weren't any wonders to build and just chalked up the wasted hammers as the cost of doing business. I'm sure we get more out of it this way, since I'm sure Noble's positronic brain wouldn't have it any other way, but its a clear example of the difference in our ways of thinking. There's really not much else going on. Commodore is basically drafting us in tech, researching Combustion at last EOT. I expect something roughly similar from here on out. We're roughly even on beakers - we have Democracy, Astronomy, Physics and Music on him, he has Liberalism, Communism, Biology on us. The bottom line is that he needs to go for a random home run play to attack us because if he were to move units out for an attack with the full visibility from dirigibles we'd see it and go kill wherever he moved the units out of. So at this point we just tech all the WWII era military stuff and then build a bajillion of each and kill him in a ridiculous bloodbath. Game honestly is incredibly boring now.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
