Turn 108

Orient Point popped it's borders this turn thanks to Stonhenge and will take the horse tile next turn, probably for good. They are about to chop that forest into a granary too, the bastards. lol

Our galley isn't far from trolls now.

Occam will grow the same turn we hook sheep, raising our health cap again. But after that we're out of health resources (there don't seem to be any others on the map) so I'm wondering if putting the Hanging Gardens somewhere might be a good idea?

I'm really loath to whip here, so the market will finish t115 - just when we set research back from 100% to 0% - perfect timing!

BOG will 1-pop whip this worker next turn. It's a bit annoying that we're producing too many hammers to 2-pop whip workers (each whipped pop turns into 45 hammers), then with a couple of chops the courthouse completes t113. After which we could have another worker or a temple to allow a priest specialist.

Boring

Five turns...

I think Epee needs to grow on a library until we can whip a worker on t113. Then we build more cottages.

The courthouse will be chopped t110, then we can grow on a market and whip a worker.

Gladius is due to start colossus t111, are we sure we won't need Astronomy? I think we are if we use culture to cross the ocean, otherwise I'm not so sure...

We'll whip this library t113.

Whip the boat in two turns, then build a trading post. We'll have two work boats ready when borders pop, so food will be great. The worker is currently mining the plains hill, waiting.

Jemmy also looks like a commerce city, although it might benefit from a couple of mines. Library next?

Katana will grow on the library, then whip it t116, meaning we can get the fur hooked sooner.

Have Trolls run out of coctail names? Perhaps they were busy building the Parthanon...

So if we built a city on the forest here it'll have one decent tile, the wheat. It'll be rubbish. We shouldn't build it. Definitely not.

So I've thought of something we can build in Smooth - it'll be about 15 turns but we could get the Hanging Gardens here... Alternatively we could always overflow into a worker. Then slow build an axe.

Meanwhile over at Blades of Glory we've just stolen two tiles from Pigpen. Which is brilliant because our staging tile for a 2-mover attack, the gold, is now invisible to them. The worker just completing in BOG is going to chop that forest then road the hill... We just need to hope that pigpen doesn't pop it's borders any time soon.

On the peninsula we can build the island city D whatever we do on the mainland. I still prefer sites A and B, to work as much Colossus coast as possible, but if you have a good argument for C let me know...

Still no response from TEAM on attacking Trolls? frown

If you want to build the gardens, we have to ask who else has stone (both Trolls and TEAM do), if we need the health from the aquaduct (what is Smooth Criminal's focus?), and how much we could use the fail gold--I don't think we should try it :/

If PigPen ever wants to expand borders quickly, they could switch back to no religion or to Judaism--thankfully they're in Hinduism right now smile

If you want to build city D, we could do A and B while moving B one north--that means we wouldn't have to build City 14, since I don't think it would get any new tiles tongue

Not a sausage from team. I'm tempted to offer a sheep for sheep trade to see how they respond (that seems to be the way you do diplo in pitboss eight...)

Occam is the only place that needs health but it doesn't have the hammers. Probably a bit of a stretch to get hanging gardens at all.

Doesn't the Jewish holy city get 5 culture a turn then? Brilliant!

I thought that filling in the gaps with as many filler cities as possible was a good idea, since it'll be a long time before cities are big enough to work every tile and more cities can provide more soldiers quicker... I do think city 14 should be about the last city we found though.

Turn 110

Presumably Trolls got Kepler. They haven't filled in their whole teritorry yet, so they've got some power yet to come.

Down south our galley can leave Troll teritory next turn, hopefully they won't notice that we were here...

Mean time I thought Lewwyn might respond to CTON-style diplo. Worth a shot?

John Locke was born this turn, I've got him down to help chop the courthouse in BOG, then put a turn into a road to link us to M3. Then we can either finish the road now or sneakily finish it on t125 so M3 don't get too much warning. What do you think? (I'm not saying we're attacking, just giving us options)

Occam grew to 16 this turn. On t115 the marketplace will complete and we can work 12 cottages, then it'll grow and on t117 can work 13 cottages. I'd also like to turn the farm into a cottage too. We're out of health resources so is it worth building an aqueduct or do we wait until guilds for a grocer?

I thought the worker was needed here next. He'll build another farm next to the lake. I think we need to finish the axe here next then perhaps another worker.

Whipped the forge in Gladius

Whipped another workboat in In The Stone. Trading post next.

Here's a sure sign we haven't got enough workers - working a forest tile - I can't remember if we'd decided what to do with Jemmy, but I think some mines and then workshops will make this a good production city, so should we go for a forge before the library?

Looks like Trolls got the Music great Artist, our galley is nosing around their island, which looks very similar to ours... It'll now take 10 turns to get our galley back to Dirk if we want it to be part of an assault, but we've got some coast to uncover first.

Two chops go into the Colossus, the next one will complete it eot115

Lewwyn accepted the sheep trade! That makes them our best buddies! twirl Still haven't replied to our email though. I'll PM Lewwyn to see if he got it.

Once we have CS this irrigation channel will allow Foil to grow much quicker (although it doesn't do much for dirk). Is it worth the ~20 worker turns or should they be cottaging?

We have a 4/5 chance for our great scientist. Fingers crossed.

Hooray, an island! Maybe this will tell us how mirrored the map is--no angry emails from Trolls for breaking their open borders?

Go Colossus!

Foil's on a hill, so it doesn't provide irrigation and we'd need another farm--it's certainly worth irrigating up to the west wheat (since that helps Dirk too to an extent), but then I'd rather get to the other wheat through the gap in the mountains.

How does Trolls keep growing their power while researching all these side techs and building wonders?
Reply

All quiet on the email front... we don't actually have a no scouting clause, we just haven't scouted them end they haven't scouted us.

I didn't know that about hill cities... hum, I think the route through the mountains takes three farms too. There must be a better way.

I think Troll have got a cheat mode enabled...

Where do you want Adjustable Techmatic to explore next?

The galley has uncovered the Troll island, which looks remarkably similar to ours.

And I think they might be about to improve our ivory for us. Should I send a message suggesting that they should?

We have 13 workers for our 11 cities, we've got plenty of spaces to fill in, so I think another settler and a few more workers would be handy soon.

We're up to 20% tech, then will go to 100% tech next turn, the Market will be finished just when we start saving money again. Then Occam can grow quickly onto the cottages. Do we cottage the hills or build windmills?

A chop will complete the courthouse next turn, I think a settler or worker is in order next. Do we build more farms or some cottages? Also should we pollute the GP pool with some Engineer points?

Dirk's great person is 82% scientist... If it's a prophet we need to have that arguement about shrine vs golden age. Forge next or Courthouse next? We can whip either in three turns. EDIT: After the turn rolled we got Andrei Sakharov, the Great Scientist! jive

The plan for Epee is to 1-pop whip the worker in a couple of turns. We need to make some major improvements to this city...

We were going to build a worker here next too, 2-pop whipping it. After that maybe a barracks? Or put a turn into some walls, just in case? I think you might be right about ditching that irrigation channel.

I think we'll produce a settler in the next few turns and I've marked the remaining city spots with letters, you suggested ditching E as it doesn't work any new tiles, but I think that until our happy cap is 20 in every city there will be plenty of tiles to work everywhere. Anyhow what order do you like?

You can get a square of coverage if you move onto the corner of those trees right? Otherwise I'd advise leaving Techmatic around TEAM's territory so it can watch TEAM's side of a possible war effort.

The island means the territory is mainly mirrored, so we can more easily predict city spots possibly--how much do we have on TEAM's territory, and how does it compare to ours?

Yes, settlers and workers sound good wink

We can cottage the riverside grassland hill, and it'll be just like a riverside plains cottage we already have--we can then leave the plains mines if we need them (mainly since I don't believe you can cottage a plains hill)

Actually, what do you think of a temple in BoG so we can run a priest and finish the shrine? How long will it take to get the prophet (assuming no other points than Oracle) after the increase from birthing the scientist?

Forge next for Dirk, it will easily gain enough hammers to pay for itself thanks to Moai smile

Workers, workers everywhere! I still think you should make the irrigation channel by Dirk to the western wheat, since Dirk can use the food (and has enough commerce tiles wink ), but the channel to the other wheat isn't necessary right now.

How soon is too soon to be pushing M3 about extending the NAP to T150 or longer? That will determine how we proceed with our M3 border cities.

My order of cities would be 1N of B, A, all of Troll's cities, D, F, and finally somewhere around I--do you have any other ideas?
