WW17 - A Game of Thrones

No time to put much work into this before the deadline. Big rivalry game today in a few hours. But i think it's between jkaen and mardoc.

Azza was on coco day 2, back when traitors were still trying to defend him. (look at the timing of serdoa's big attack post against mattimeo, it's shortly after a post recap showing coco up big.). He also was implicating a lot of possible wolves at the end of day 1, so i'm thinking he maybe is loyal. Tasunke was pushing TT hard day 2, like zak pointed out at the end of the last day cycle. Qgqqqqq was on coco day 2, and voted coco when it was still close (i believe his vote made it coco - 6, mattimeo - 7), but i will still want to look at qgqqqqq some more tomorrow.

Jkaen came in towards the end of day 2 from his vacation and immediately voted mattimeo, even before he had caught up. Big hurry to vote? His only post that day: http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthrea...#pid310434
I remember being annoyed when that happened that he would push away from coco without even reading the arguments. But early day 3 he is making a lot of posts to dig for information

Mardoc was the biggest cheerleading of lynching mattimeo over coco towards the end of day 2. Then on day 3 he's the first vote on coco. Day 2 the wolves didn't know coco was going to go awol on them; by day 3 they did. TT's day 3 vote on coco is a great example of this.

I think mardoc's reversal on coco is telling, and jkaen's continued defense to not policy lynching coco well into day 3 -- mardoc first, i think.

I don't have a safe-claim, Tasunke. smile I'm innocent. Just in case you're serious and you really think otherwise, then you should take a look at the voting records. Do you think there were three scum on the block on day 3? In fact, how does day 3 make ANY sense at all, if I'm scum?

As for who IS scum: I agree with Pindicator. I'm pretty sure the last scum is Mardoc. If I survive the night, I will be voting for him and it will take A LOT to change my mind. I think Mardoc was seeing the writing on the wall when he made his "I'm not going to talk to you because I know you won't listen to me even if I haven't actually given you anything to listen to yet" post. His situation must have looked very bleak indeed, with no word from Coco.

I already talked about the fact that he was generally a popular suspect on day 1, but none of the known or potential scum ever mentioned him, at all. Pindicator talked about the way his stance on Coco changed from day 2 to day 3. To elaborate some more on that, let's look at the tally midway through day 3:

Tally

TT (5) - Tasunke, Zakalwe, Pindicator, Azza, Sareln
Coco (4*) - Mardoc*, Thestick, TT
Zakalwe (3) - Jkaen, Lewwyn, Qgqqqqq
Thestick (1) - Rowain

Not voting: Coco

At this point, TT is going down, which is pretty disastrous for the scum since Coco is also AWOL. So what are the options here? Busing TT might gain a little bit of cred for the last scum, but he will be all on his own very soon. TT and the last scum could team up and lynch me, possibly. But Rowain might save me; he said at the time that he thought I was innocent, and he is always around for the deadlines. And even if they did manage to lynch me; then what? Coco would die, TT would follow, and the last scum would be heavily implicated, too. In short, this move would be ritual suicide. The winning move for scum here would be to gang up on Coco, get him lynched and thereby "clear" TT and implicate pretty much everybody else. So what actually happened next? Mardoc showed up, and pushed very hard for Coco's lynch.

(November 19th, 2012, 11:28)Mardoc Wrote: Man, RB voters have the attention span of a 3-year-old on a sugar high. Did Coco post anything at all? Did anyone post a defense? Nope! Yet somehow he's now regarded as innocent. Innocent enough that Rowain is using that as an argument! Why? Because Coco was voted at the start of the day, instead of at the end, and people get antsy about letting a vote ride.

Consider: he's very busy at work...therefore you'd expect him to show up, if at all, on the weekend. Instead he's had participation early and not on the weekend. His posts just feel like a newb wolf, too. But you're going to ignore all that, and let him lurk until Friday, when he'll return and vote and not get modkilled.

I guess I'll have to reread the cases on TT and zakalwe, if there's no chance of lynching Coco. It seems unlikely that they're both scum, at least, so picking the right one is important. My gut is saying that both are villagers, and we've got a circular firing squad going on, but maybe there's something to one of the cases. Will try to find time for that in between working this afternoon.

PS - can someone upload Jkaen's picture to a different picture hosting site? It's blocked by my work firewall.

Luckily, nobody else saw the point in lynching the inactive Coco at this point, so the tally remained unchanged:

So, take a good look at this final tally, and answer this... if the last scum is NOT Mardoc, then why didn't he allow himself to be persuaded by Mardoc, and switch to Coco?

LITTLEFINGER

Petyr Baelish stroked his beard in a satisfied manner. With the great houses of the land being decimated by all the assassinations and reprisal executions, surely there'd be room for him to rise even further. The best thing is all he had needed to do was sit back. That odious Slynt fellow, for example, had required a bribe of a few thousand gold in order not to interfere with his brothel operations. His successor would no doubt prove more pliable. Mace Tyrell had always complained about a lowly noble such as himself being given a seat on the council and tried to restrict his influence with the king. That obstacle was now out of the way. And Varys' spy network now answered to him.

King Robert was easy to manage too. So long as no one managed to overthrow him, Littlefinger's continued rise was certain. All Petyr needed to do was keep him supplied with girls and he wouldn't ask too many questions about why the treasury needed to keep taking out loans. The best part about that was although everyone kept making jokes about his little finger, he still got to bed all of them before the King did. Maybe once his position was secure he'd be able to take a ship to Lys and find himself a good supply of herbs and potions to... address that particular physical deficiency. In the meantime it was time to check on the girls.

He climbed the stairs to the brothel's business area to find five of his girls pointing crossbows in his direction. One of the crossbows was rather large and equipped with a suspicious looking flask of liquid instead of the normal bolts. Who could have put them up to this?

"Put those things down, sweetlings, before you hurt yourselves," he began.

"We know you're cheating us," interrupted Ros, one of the girls. "A friend told us we shouldn't trust you and we found this." She pulled a piece of paper out of the bodice of her dress and read:

"H00

H00

H00 R T3H SCUMz0R..."

"That's just a wanted notice," Littlefinger pointed out. Ros looked embarrassed for a moment, then reached back down her dress again and rummaged around for half a minute for the benefit of the TV audience before finally producing a page from a ledger. It clearly showed that Littlefinger had been paying them only a tenth of what he had received from the king.

"We should cut off his finger," another girl said. The whores murmured agreement.

"Who the hell gave you that?" demanded Petyr.

"Oh so it's true then?" shot back Ros.

"Give me that!" yelled Littlefinger, one hand grabbing for the piece of paper and another for a crossbow. The girls panicked and pulled the triggers. Most of the bolts missed, but one of them pierced his right knee and the flask of liquid hit him in the shoulder and exploded noisily, ripping his arm off and setting him on fire. Screaming in agony he hobbled out into the street, where no one was willing to lift so much as a little finger to help him. Instead, people just pointed and laughed as he burned to death. Apparently his latest tax increases hadn't gone down too well with the smallfolk.
