I have every confidence that Noble and Gaspar can find something to complain about under any circumstances. nod

I just posted the distance between players in NobleGas's thread thinking it was a response to a comment here. Maybe i should stop posting

Also, I'm surprised Superdeath isn't looking at the coastal spot between the bananas and the wheat for a city to pick up the plains silver.

So it's hard to say for sure, but it seems interesting that the players have largely first scouted within 2 groups of 3 - Lewwyn/Bob/Rusten all scouting each other in the west and Superdeath/NobleGas/Serdoa in the east. I think it's funny because one early idea I had for the map was to put them in two groups of 3, something I dismissed as being too difficult to balance and too swingy a game when inevitably someone wins their continent and the other one is still in a stalemate. Also funny that Noble suspects the map is actually like that right now.

I'm going to settle for (on) the sheep to my east first, then likely settle as far north as I can before backfiling the "safe" areas in the immediate vicinity of my capital.

Seems pretty terrible? Apart from it being so far out and prone to a Rusten snatch, the city on the sheep then has to work bare flood plains until the single worker improves them at glacial speed. Also can't really work the gold before at least 2 FP farms? And there he complains that in his last game he had just commerce and no production...
I'm a simple mind and when I can share food, I do, so I'd go for rice-2E or deer-2N anytime, but really any site with food first ring seems better than that plant.

I can understand trying to lock down the border with rusten and claim "his" gold. But if that's his first settler I reckon it'll be t80 when he loses the city to his better-developed neighbor.

Would you consider a city between wheat and crab as second city? Or is sharing resources better?
