Music: Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY - Distant Worlds V: more music from FINAL FANTASY "Searching for Friends"

Once again we return to Distant Worlds with a piece from Final Fantasy this time part 6. In the original this song was played while traveling the world of ruin in the airship.

The piece starts different then the original with a beautiful intro from a lonely harp. The full orchestra joines in at 0:20 and builds up to something before we turn to the main melody of the piece. The original also start with a crescendo like that, but because of the technical limitations it can't get to the grand splendor of the full orchestra. The main melody at 0:40 is also played on a flute like in the original. But where the original captured the essence of loneliness in that part, this version is a bit more epic probably caused by the basses and the drums. Interestingly though these two can also be heard in the original, but they felt a bit more prominent here. We continue quite similar to the original for the next phrases with one major difference at 0:55 when the strings take over the melody and soon lead us into the second part of the original. With some minor - but beautiful, listen to what the flutes are doing - exceptions we continue along the original even doing the loop.

But in the new loop things start divert at 2:10 increasing the tempo especially with what the strings are doing. But not for long because the strings bring us down to a beautiful melancholic part in 2:31. The main theme is always present, but the feeling is different. We end the piece like we started it with a short outro by an harp.

Like the last piece from Distant Worlds you can buy this song directly from bandcamp or were else you can find it. After all Distant Worlds is one of the bigger concert tours.

T25:

The T25 border pop is in and there are good news and bad news. The good news all the plans for the southern second city can stay in tact. The bad news nothing interesting was revealed.

My scout is still searching for friends smile

Hm yeah, land doesn't look overly rich. I guess second city in the south is a given? I'd say 3S of the cap, to grab both horse and wheat while sharing the pig. Dry plains wheat isn't so strong that we couldn't wait 5 turns.

Yes 3S of the cap it is. The good thing. The horse will already be pastured, when the city is founded.

Oh and I got a forest growth.  jive

Exactly where I want to plant my second city delaying it by one turn.  Doh

You sure you want to work that? 9 of 10 times I'd take the pig first. Grumble bad forest.

I would tend to agree. Only exception I can think of is if I was charismatic and building monument first.

The new city will work the pig, but the capitol also needs to grow one pop and finish the next settler. For that it will need the pigs too and in that case it's good that the second city has at least an improved tile.

Music: The Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra - Lemmings - Just Dig Orchestra

Not to take away from the turn report, but I met another player. They asked for the Lemmings. An interesting choice, but I found something.

For those who are well trained in music or know a lot about it, you know what I've been talking about next. This is another song that features the now infamous pachelbel's canon. Here, like with most other songs that used it, it is used as a background track. But the blame does not go towards the arranger, because this is already in the original composition.

Otherwise the piece is fairly faithful the original composition even in the instrumentation. The choir at 0:57 is a nice addition as is giving the main melody around to different instruments during the song. Unfortunately the instruments are synthetic which is noticeable, but then again this song and game isn't arranged for orchestra so often, so we have to take what we get.

You find all the necessary information to by this song and others on blake's website: http://syntheticorchestra.com

T27:

As you can see Mjmd finally introduced himself with his scout east of my capitol. Like Tarkeel he also finished Bronze Working, which is great because it gives me enough KTB to finish BW one turn early with the exact amount of beakers.

We also had some first diplo:

Quote:Mjmd: it looks like we are barely neighbors due to a small land bridge

Charriu: I found that land bridge too and expected someone on the other side

...

Mjmd: Do you know where Bing is by any chance? Looking around for more contacts

Charriu: No, I only met Tarkeel so far. But we can agree to notify each other, when we meet other players

Mjmd: I've met everyone but Bing lol

So I think I can assume that Ginger&GKC and Superdeath are east of Mjmd.

Oh by the way. Since it's clear where the second city goes and the third will only be done after BW is in, I think I will do a full stitch of the map and dotmapping after BW is in.

Tarkeel provided me with his full map.

I don't remember us negotiating to exchange that much knowledge. But I count that as a good sign and that relations with him can develop in a good way for both sides. I promised him a similar screenshot when I finish BW in T34.

As you can see I painted in two lines. The yellow line is straight up distance between capitols ignoring any water tiles. The two red lines are the distance for land units. The east is harder to reach for him then for me, but I doubt that that part of the map will be important for early diplomacy, because we both don't know where and how Mjmd plays into that area.
The west is more interesting. You might remember that Tarkeel already made a claim for that part:

Quote:Tarkeel: There is a river leading into the lake on the west edge, but that's within the sphere I'd like to settle ?

Curious to see how this part of the diplomacy will develop. It's clear to me that he has a much better claim to the whole mediterranean sea as he has the better cities on that sea. I for one have a big desert, the land bridge and this part with the spice. We'll see how this will develop.

Oh and by the way he as well as Mjmd believe that this whole map is some kind of a distorted world map and I can certainly see it that way.
