EOT60 - Overview:

So as you can see Grant Fuhr survived (just barely). According to the combat log 1 more hit and he would have been dead. Things should be safe for the time being. My first axe completed at EOT and I'll have another at EOT 61. Decisions to be made then.

I highlighted in red the message I received at EOT as I'm not sure if that actually happened. I replayed my turn to get the screenshots and I replayed a 2nd time to see if it came again and it did so I hope in my first playthrough it did as well. That would be super nice if it did.

Agriculture came in at EOT and I need to decide on a tech path. I will probably go AH but I'm considering alternatives at the moment.

At EOT 61:

Patrick Roy survived the attack without a scratch. There are still a few barbs coming in but they're all a couple of turns away.
Ron Hextall (my first axeman) loaded up onto my galley.
Animal Husbandry selected as next tech due in 5 (4 after EOT).

Apart from that not a lot has happened this turn. Oh and I saw Charlottetown has buddhism. Ya for me!

Blimey, those barbs really don't like you do they? yikes
Any thoughts on wonders yet (maybe using the marble?), or is it just too early to think about that?

Oh, and just a gentle nudge to turn on resource indicators every now and again. smile

Well I'm pretty sure they don't lol. I'm guessing nobody else has had this much trouble with them yet. Really the only big trouble was when I had to double whip a warrior from scratch. That set me back big time and it's showing through in my score and what not. I'm the last to a 3rd city and I'm slowly getting outpaced. The nature of the setup was extremely detritmental to my scout start which I obviously wasn't very happy about. It's one thing to play with raging barbs, quite another to play with barb cities right next door at T0. I'm pretty sure the barb city to Fredricton's immediate NW was there at T0 as well. Throw everything together and atleast to me it looks like I'm slowly falling behind.

I have my eye on the Oracle right now. I've been thinking about trying to slow research Metal Casting and then Oracle to Machinery but Sevenspirits had Polytheism right after I finished Meditation so I don't think I'll be able to wait that long. My current proposed tech path is Animal Husbandry-->Masonry-->Priesthood.

Surely an axeman should be something like Marty McSorley, Dale Hunter, or Tie Domi? wink

Excellent suggestions T-hawk! I couldn't resist Hextall. I remember watching him as a kid and seeing him hack down a few guys in front of the net. He's also the goalie that first started the scoring in empty nets and I expect this axeman to take a few whacks at some barbs and cities. Also, since I had started with goalies I continued it. Still I've got another axe coming next turn to name. He'll probably get the title of Marty McSorley.

So as you can see I've got a few more barbs coming my way. Nothing I shouldn't be able to handle. I've got OB's with Babylon and Byzantine. Combine that with a reworked capital to grow and I've got AH due in 2 now.

The big news is Ron Hextall captured Hun which has been renamed to Halifax. Attacked off the boat which was fun.

EOT63 - Overview:

As you can see Ron Hextall killed the barb left on my starting island and Patrick Roy killed the one barb that was threatening Fredricton last turn. Patrick and Grant should handle the remaining two and for what it's worth that should allow Grant to unlock the Heroic Epic which is nice smile. I don't think anybody else will have accomplished that just yet.

Marty McSorley will kill the barb warrior and pop the hut next turn. Yay my first one! My scout is 2 turns away from a hut which I have no idea if it is even there or if it is if it's unguarded. It's a bit north of Thesalonica (The Byzantine city on the island). I spotted it with my exploring workboat about 6 turns ago or so. I believe I'll spot it next turn by going on a hill so if it's not there or if it's guarded I can begin exploring the middle for some huts.

AH due in 1 and after that I'll need to start shipping some workers off to Fredricton to get started over there. With the capture of Halifax I feel like I all of a sudden have a lot to build!

My first real attempt at any amount of diplomacy. So far I've had a few e-mails back and forth with all of The Rev, Jowy and Nakor just shooting the shit so to speak. Hopefully I'm not going to have to do much on that end as I hate it a lot and I suck at it. I'll probably send something off to The Rev along these lines as well.

To Byzantium:
Quote:Hello Nakor,

Just checking in to say hi. I've been pretty relaxed in diplomacy this time around. Anything going on your way? You should have noticed I've now passed you in score wink! Should give you a clue as to what I'm up to.

Have you met SevenSpirits (India) yet? I haven't. I'm obviously taking the long way around the island so I'll be a while getting to him. Since he has The Great Lighthouse and Hinduism I was wondering what you thought of that? If you have OB's with him it might be wise to keep an eye on his score. Giving him foreign trade routes right now could prove to be a bad idea.

Thoughts?

A response back from Byzantium:
Quote:Hi Shathlete,

Playing the meta-game again?
I haven't met SS if I am correct. But I'll keep your observations in mind once I meet him.
Just wading my way through a bunch of barbs on the island.
I'm not to worried about score right now, but good to see you're moving up!

It's a pretty diffferent map then Pitboss 2 and ask for other tech choices, making the game interesting!

Anyway... I hope The Oracle will go to you! wink

Cheers,
Nakor

I guess I'm fairly predictable(?) huh in the route I'm taking.
